The Server will play a pivotal role in the dining experience, working in a bright and welcoming dining room that emphasizes not just the nourishment from food but also the joy of companionship and social interaction during mealtime. Mealtime at Cogir is viewed as an opportunity for friends and family to gather, share good conversation, and create memorable moments, making the Server’s role integral to enhancing the quality of life for residents.\n\nThis position involves working split shifts from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM to 7:30 PM on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. As a member of the serving team, the individual will assist with the preparation and set-up of the dining room, delivering exceptional service during meal times, and participating in the clean-up process. The Server will also support catering efforts and take part in special occasions and themed events, adding a sense of celebration and community spirit. The role requires collaboration with culinary staff, as well as a commitment to maintaining health and safety standards along with compliance with provincial regulations and company policies. This ensures that residents receive not only top-quality food service but also a safe and respectful dining environment.\n\nSuccessful candidates will be committed to ethical values and company philosophy as outlined in Cogir’s Code of Conduct, focusing on integrity and respect for resident rights and responsibilities. Job Requirements
- must be physically able to lift and transfer heavy, hot items and stand/walk for majority of shift
Job Qualifications
- preference will be given to individuals who have previous experience in the food service industry and working with seniors
- demonstrates excellent customer service skills
- proficiency in a second language is considered an asset
- current (within 6 months) vulnerable position/sector screening (vps) or be willing to obtain one upon hire
Job Duties
- to serve meals to residents and guests in a professional and courteous manner
- to set and clear dining tables and deliver tray service as required
- to assist with cleaning of dishware, cutlery at the conclusion of each dining service as required
- to assist with maintaining the cleanliness of kitchen and dining area as required
- to assist with catering, and actively participate in special occasions and theme events
- to assist in the orientation and training of new culinary employees
- to follow and comply with health and safety legislation and departmental safe job procedures
