Job Description
Kindred Fare - A Spirited Cookery is a renowned full-service restaurant located in the scenic heart of the Finger Lakes region, celebrated for its dedication to scratch cookery using seasonal and local ingredients. This establishment has earned a distinguished reputation, having been featured in prominent publications such as Forbes, Wine Spectator, and Eater. It proudly holds the title of "Best Farm to Table Restaurant," awarded four years consecutively by The Finger Lakes Times Readers' Choice Awards. This acclaim reflects the restaurant's commitment to quality, sustainability, and an authentic farm-to-table dining experience.
The restaurant thrives as a beloved local and tourist destination, known for its positive online reviews and enthusiastic guest feedback. It boasts a strong culinary and beverage focus, particularly highlighting cool climate wines and spirits, and it actively engages with the local industry to uphold its high standards and community connections. One of the unique aspects of Kindred Fare is its Monday night tradition where the culinary team collaborates to create a themed three-course prix fixe menu, an event eagerly anticipated by the local community. With an open kitchen design, the restaurant not only celebrates the art of cooking but fosters a transparent and interactive atmosphere that keeps the entire team synchronized with guest experiences.
We are currently seeking an experienced Server and Food Runner to join our vibrant and socially active eatery. This role is part-time and seasonal, requiring availability for 2-5 nights a week from April through October, with shifts beginning either at 3 PM or 4:45 PM, depending on the day. The position demands at least four years of prior experience in serving and food running, preferably within high-end and high-volume environments. We expect candidates to have an updated resume demonstrating long-term tenure with previous or current employers, alongside advanced knowledge of wine, beer, and cocktail recipes, particularly with regional expertise. This role requires staying current and creative with culinary, beverage, and hospitality trends to ensure guests receive exceptional service.
Serving at Kindred Fare is more than just taking orders; it involves completing side work and cleaning duties to the highest standards, maintaining a clean and organized dining room and front-of-house stations, and demonstrating strong customer service skills. Effective communication and teamwork are essential, as this role requires seamless interaction with both the kitchen team and guests. Professionalism is key—servers must remain composed and 'on stage' throughout their shifts, embodying the welcoming and polished atmosphere that Kindred Fare is known for. Flexibility and part-time availability are critical, as we work together to accommodate the needs of our dynamic team.
Joining our team means becoming part of a workplace that values and rewards dedication. Employees can expect a competitive hourly wage plus tips, eligibility for health benefits and life insurance for full-time employees, and participation in a 401K plan with employer match offering traditional and Roth options. Additional perks include employee discounts, professional development and incentive programs, schedule flexibility with advanced notice, and convenient parking facilities. Moreover, we honor major holidays by remaining closed so our team can spend quality time with their families. At Kindred Fare, you will find a positive, lively, and fun work environment supported by caring and understanding leaders and teammates who value authentic human connection and professional growth.
