This opportunity is for the position of Server (Dining Room Care Manager) at Sunrise Senior Living. This role is vital in ensuring residents receive high-quality dining service within the community’s dining rooms and designated areas according to Sunrise standards. The Server acts as a role model in delivering outstanding dining experiences, assisting with training care managers, maintaining dining room upkeep, and supporting special events. The individual in this role will be responsible for managing food and beverage services in compliance with all federal, state, provincial, and local regulations, ensuring sanitation and food safety standards are meticulously observed.

The Server (Dining Room Care Manager) will support day-to-day dining room operations, maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for residents and staff alike. This position includes providing training to new care managers, assisting residents with menu selections, and responding to inquiries about menu items. It requires attention to detail in maintaining dining room cleanliness through routine inspections, completing side work duties, and managing tabletop inventories. Additionally, the role involves documenting pertinent resident information and adhering to confidentiality standards.

Food safety is a paramount responsibility, with duties including practicing safe food handling procedures, completing scheduled cleaning assignments, and maintaining a healthy workspace. The Server will work collaboratively to ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations, promoting risk management and safety protocols within the community. Active participation in team engagement activities, adherence to Sunrise’s Team Member Credo, and ongoing compliance with required training are integral components of this role.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • At least one year of experience preferred in fine dining hospitality or full-service senior living
  • Food Safety Certification achieved within 90 days of hiring
  • CPR and First Aid certification completion
  • ServeSafe certification
  • Ability to work in compliance with federal, state, provincial, and local food handling regulations
  • Commitment to teamwork and customer service principles
  • Ability to attend required training sessions and comply with safety and health protocols
  • Successful completion of pre-employment screenings and health evaluations
  • Willingness to maintain confidentiality and respect of resident information

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED

Job Duties

  • Provide support in the day-to-day operations of the dining room while maintaining a high quality, positive, and safe physical and social environment for residents and fellow team members
  • Provide dining service training to new care managers
  • Maintain knowledge of Daily and Always Available Menu items and provide general descriptions to residents
  • Assist residents with menu selections and respond to pertinent questions about menu items
  • Take meal and beverage orders and serve requested items according to established guidelines
  • Respond to the dining needs of the residents while maintaining Sunrise hospitality and service standards
  • Attend pre-meal briefing to gain knowledge of the meal and meal support activities
  • Follow all local, state/provincial, and federal policies regarding food handling
  • Maintain standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and health standards
  • Perform dining room checklist inspections for dining room cleanliness and readiness and make necessary adjustments
  • Maintain assigned tables and surrounding area in a complete state of cleanliness, appearance, and readiness
  • Perform and ensure dining room set-up and re-set of tables according to dining room procedures
  • Support the dining room decorum and etiquette standards
  • Perform and complete opening and closing checklist criteria
  • Assist in tabletop inventories maintenance
  • Review, read, notate, and initial the Daily Log to document and learn about pertinent information
  • Review Resident Diet Book-TSD or confidential chart
  • Maintain and protect the confidentiality of resident information
  • Practice safe food handling at all times to prevent an outbreak of food borne illness
  • Complete daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning assignments
  • Maintain all work areas in a healthy and safe condition
  • Assist in dining room and surrounding areas for proper directional flow, organization, and supplies placement
  • Partner with community team to ensure community compliance with occupational health and safety requirements, promoting risk management programs and policies and adhering to safety rules and regulations
  • Practice safety procedures including Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), fire extinguishers, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and Lockout Tagout procedures
  • Participate actively as a team member committed to team goals
  • Demonstrate in daily interactions the Team Member Credo
  • Commit to serving residents and guests through Principles of Service
  • Contribute to overall engagement programs and processes
  • Attend regular meetings as directed
  • Maintain compliance in required training and training required by state/provincial regulations
  • Perform other duties as assigned
