Job Description

Presbyterian Homes & Services (PHS) is a faith-based, nonprofit organization committed to enriching the lives of older adults through a broad range of housing options, care services, and community support. Founded in 1955 and based in St. Paul, Minnesota, PHS has grown to become one of the largest nonprofit senior housing and service providers in the United States. Serving more than 26,000 older adults through 60+ affiliated senior living communities across Minnesota, Iowa, and Wisconsin, the organization operates with a mission to honor God by enriching the lives and touching the hearts of older adults. PHS is also known for its co-ownership of Genevive, the largest geriatric primary care practice in Minnesota, providing comprehensive healthcare to over 15,000 older adults. With over 7,500 team members, PHS emphasizes an empowering and supportive environment where employees are valued and encouraged to grow professionally. The organization prioritizes internal development, with roughly 80% of leadership roles filled from within its team.

Walnut Ridge, one of the PHS senior living communities located in Clive, Iowa, offers a vibrant and nurturing environment tailored to meet the diverse needs of its residents including Independent Living, Assisted Living, Memory Care, and Long-Term Care. The community is conveniently located just inside the I-35 loop within the Greater Des Moines area, providing easy access to highways, hospitals, retail, dining, and recreational services. Walnut Ridge fosters a close-knit, community-focused environment that benefits both residents and employees alike. Amenities include free employee meals, access to a fitness center inclusive of family members, a warm water swimming pool, walking paths, and proximity to bus routes, making it a desirable workplace and living environment.

The role of Dietary Aide / Dining Server at Walnut Ridge offers an opportunity to engage closely with residents by creating a high-quality dining experience. The position requires working hours from 6:30 am to 2:30 pm with every other weekend scheduled, and pays between $15.78 to $17.65 per hour, with an additional $1.00 per hour for weekend shifts. The Dietary Aide / Dining Server plays a critical role in meal preparation, dining room setup, and meal service, all conducted in strict adherence to regulatory standards and company policies. This position is vital in supporting the overall wellbeing of residents through nutritional care and customer service. The successful candidate will work within a supportive, ministry-focused team that values compassion, respect, and a shared mission of serving older adults. This role not only offers a competitive wage but also full and part-time benefits, including health and dental coverage, retirement plans, education assistance, and paid time off. Working at Walnut Ridge means becoming part of an inclusive community dedicated to making a meaningful difference in the lives of older adults, while also growing personally and professionally within a company that honors Christian values and embraces diversity and inclusion.
