Job Description
Olympia Fields Country Club (OFCC), founded in 1915, is a prestigious private country club with a rich history rooted in tradition and excellence. Located in Olympia Fields, Illinois, OFCC is renowned for hosting some of the most prominent golf tournaments, including the US Open, the US Amateur Championship, the US Senior Open Championship, various Western Opens, the PGA Championship, the KPMG PGA Women's Championship, and most recently, the BMW Championship. With over 100 years of distinguished service, this club offers an exceptional blend of historic charm and modern amenities, making it a treasured destination for golf enthusiasts and members alike.
As a private club, OFCC is committed to providing an extraordinary and unparalleled member experience that meets every aspect of its members' needs. The club prides itself on fostering a welcoming environment that emphasizes tradition, luxury, and impeccable service. At the heart of OFCC's success and the member experience lies its dedicated employees. The club values its team members and views them as the foundation of everything they do. Employees at OFCC have the unique opportunity to gain specialized knowledge, develop diverse skills, and work alongside an outstanding team of hospitality professionals. The culture at OFCC is hospitality-focused and fast-paced, designed to facilitate growth and career advancement for every team member.
The role of Server Assistant at OFCC provides a vital service to the club's members and guests across its three distinguished restaurants: 1915, Stagg, and 73rd Hole. This position plays a fundamental role in creating a welcoming and exceptional dining atmosphere that aligns with the club’s five-star standards. The Server Assistant is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and readiness of the dining areas, supporting servers by attending to the logistics of service, and contributing to the smooth operation of the restaurants. This role demands a high level of professionalism and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic hospitality environment.
The Server Assistant must possess a personality that makes guests feel welcome, alongside a genuine passion for delivering outstanding member experiences. Efficiency and positivity are key, as the assistant tackles all assigned tasks with a can-do attitude and a smile. The role often requires thinking on one’s feet and maintaining a calm, professional demeanor under pressure. Reliability, punctuality, self-motivation, and accountability are essential traits for success in this position. Teamwork is highly encouraged, but the ability to work independently is equally important.
Work shifts typically start as early as 11:00 am and end around 9:00 pm, with the expectation of consistent weekly availability. Flexibility is required, particularly during peak business times or seasonal demands, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. The golf season runs from April through December, during which overtime may be necessary to meet increased membership needs. Physical stamina is crucial, as the role includes standing for long periods, moving around the dining spaces freely, and frequently lifting, carrying, pulling, or pushing up to 20 pounds. The position offers competitive pay starting at $15 per hour plus tips, as well as a variety of benefits such as free employee meals and opportunities to learn and develop within the hospitality industry.
This role is ideal for individuals looking to build a career in hospitality within a prestigious and historic club setting, providing a unique platform for growth, networking, and professional fulfillment.
