Job Description
The Portland Regency Hotel & Spa, located in the heart of Portland's historic Old Port District, is a distinguished establishment celebrated for its timeless charm, exceptional guest service, and being a proud member of the Historic Hotels of America. This elegant hotel combines a rich historic atmosphere with modern comforts to provide guests with an unforgettable experience. Known for its welcoming and supportive team environment, the Portland Regency Hotel & Spa has built a reputation as one of Portland’s premier destinations for visitors seeking luxury accommodations and outstanding hospitality services.
The property features beautifully appointed guest rooms, fine dining options, a full-service spa, and event spaces designed to meet the needs of a diverse range of travelers and guests. Its location in the vibrant Old Port District places it in close proximity to local attractions, dining, shopping, and cultural experiences, making it an ideal choice for both leisure and business travelers.
The Part-Time AM Server role at the Portland Regency Hotel & Spa is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are passionate about hospitality and creating memorable dining experiences. This position primarily involves working mornings Monday through Wednesday from 6:30 AM to 2:00 PM, focusing on meal service within the hotel's food and beverage department. The role is year-round and involves no sponsorship for J1 or H-2B visas.
As a Part-Time AM Server, you will be instrumental in ensuring a seamless and positive dining experience for hotel guests and visitors. Your responsibilities include warmly greeting guests, accurately taking food and beverage orders, entering them into the POS system, and delivering meals promptly while maintaining a friendly and professional demeanor. The role requires collaboration with a team of servers, hosts, food runners, and supervisors to maintain high service standards and uphold the hotel's renowned hospitality.
In addition to direct service duties, the AM Server assists with opening and closing procedures, restocking necessary items, and keeping the dining area clean and organized. Handling guest concerns with professionalism and escalating issues when necessary is a critical aspect of this role. The AM Server will also follow Maine liquor laws and hotel safety procedures meticulously and may be involved in training new team members to ensure consistent service quality.
This position is ideal for those who thrive in a fast-paced, guest-facing environment and possess strong communication skills, reliability, and a professional attitude. Physical stamina is necessary, as the role involves standing and walking for extended periods and lifting up to 25 pounds. The position also requires TIPS Certification, emphasizing responsible alcohol service. Previous experience in restaurant, hotel, or hospitality settings is preferred, though a high school diploma or GED is desirable. Joining the Portland Regency Hotel & Spa means becoming part of a team committed to creating outstanding guest experiences in one of Portland’s most iconic hotels.
