Job Description

The Ritz-Carlton, part of Marriott International, is a globally renowned luxury hospitality brand recognized for delivering exceptional service and creating memorable experiences for its guests. With more than 100 award-winning properties worldwide, The Ritz-Carlton prides itself on its commitment to excellence, hospitality, and a rich blend of culture and talent among its associates. The company fosters an inclusive and supportive work environment that values diversity and ensures equal opportunity for all employees, regardless of disability, veteran status or any other protected basis under applicable law. Working at The Ritz-Carlton means becoming part of a prestigious team dedicated to upholding its "Gold Standards," which include the Employee Promise, Credo, and Service Values that guide all employees toward continuous improvement and outstanding guest care.

Located at 3100 South St NW in Washington, DC, this position is a full-time, non-management role in the Food and Beverage & Culinary category. The hourly pay range is $11.71 to $15.62, with eligibility for tips and staff service charge. Employees also receive a training and PTO rate of $31.24 per hour. This role involves serving food courses and alcoholic beverages to guests in a manner that reflects the luxury standards for which The Ritz-Carlton is known. Servers are responsible for setting tables according to the event and service standards, answering guest questions about menu selections, and effectively communicating with the kitchen staff regarding menu questions, wait times, order recooks, and daily product availability.

In this role, the server will also record transactions using the MICROS system, check in with guests to ensure satisfaction after each course or beverage, and maintain a clean and organized work area throughout the shift. Closing duties such as restocking, turning off lights, and other tasks to prepare the area for the next day are also part of the responsibilities. The server will present the physical check to guests and process payments with accuracy and professionalism. Adherence to company safety and security policies is essential, including reporting accidents or unsafe conditions and completing all required safety training.

The position demands physical stamina, including standing or walking for extended periods, lifting or moving objects up to 25 pounds independently (and heavier items with assistance), and navigating uneven or slippery surfaces. The role requires fine motor skills for handling various items and the ability to perform repetitive physical tasks while maintaining a professional appearance and demeanor. Exceptional communication skills and a genuine appreciation for hospitality are critical, as the server will interact directly with guests, anticipating their needs and ensuring they receive attentive and personalized service.

Joining The Ritz-Carlton means joining a culture where employees are empowered to be creative, thoughtful, and compassionate in their work. The brand's reputation as a global leader in luxury hospitality is built on the consistent delivery of high-quality service and a welcoming environment. This role offers growth and learning opportunities, allowing associates to be proud of their work while contributing to a team centered on exceptional guest experiences. By exemplifying the Gold Standards daily, employees help elevate the guest experience to create lasting impressions and lifelong memories.
