The position of a Server at Duffy's plays a crucial role in the overall guest experience. Reporting directly to the General Manager, servers are responsible for delivering excellent service by adhering to Duffy's multi-step service approach. This role requires attentiveness, a welcoming demeanor, and thorough knowledge of the restaurant's menu and MVP program. Servers escort guests to their tables, explain menu items in detail including preparation methods and ingredients, and upsell items to improve the guest's dining experience and increase average check totals. Accuracy is vital, as servers must take food orders using order pads, ensure correct input into the POS system, and confirm orders with guests to prevent errors.
Beyond order taking, servers are tasked with monitoring guests' satisfaction throughout their visit, addressing any concerns promptly, and ensuring guests meet the legal age requirements for alcoholic beverages. Handling payments and maintaining cleanliness by clearing tables and resetting them is part of the daily responsibilities. Additionally, servers assist hosts by managing phone calls, to-go orders, and greeting and seating guests. Job Duties
- Escort guests to their tables when needed
- Review MVP program with all guests
- Demonstrate strong MVP program knowledge
- Review menus with guests and answer questions about menu items
- upsell to improve the dining experience and raise check average
- Write guest food orders on order pads and repeat the order back to the guest
- Input guest orders accurately into POS system
- Check with guests to ensure they are enjoying their meals and take action to correct any problems
- Check guests' identification to ensure minimum age requirements for alcoholic beverages
- Collect payments from guests
- Remove dishes and glasses from tables and take to kitchen for cleaning during and after the guests visit
- Clean and reset tables after guests finish dining
- Assist host or hostess by answering phones, taking to-go orders, greeting, seating, and thanking guests
- Perform cleaning duties such as sweeping, mopping floors, vacuuming carpet, tidying server station, taking out trash, and cleaning bathrooms
- Roll silverware, set up food stations, and set up dining areas for the next shift or large parties
- Stock service areas with supplies including coffee, tea, beverages, napkins, and side plates
- Fill salt and pepper shakers and wipe down table tents throughout the shift
- Ask guests to leave a review
- Maintain a positive and professional approach to coworkers and customers
