Job Description
The hiring establishment is a hotel operating within the food and beverage department, which provides dining services to guests and visitors. The hotel seeks dedicated staff to work within the Food & Beverage department, reporting directly to the Food & Beverage Manager. This establishment emphasizes quality service, guest satisfaction, and adherence to safety and hygiene standards to promote a comfortable and enjoyable dining experience. With a structured yet dynamic working environment, the role involves interaction with a diverse clientele which may vary based on the hotel's occupancy and specific business demands.
This role is specifically designed for a Food & Beverage Service staff member whose main responsibility is to attend to guests by taking orders, serving food and drinks, and ensuring an excellent dining experience. The position demands physical stamina as it requires the candidate to walk, stand, stoop, bend and lift items up to 25 pounds. The chosen applicant must be able to carry and balance trays efficiently. The working hours are variable and dependent on the hotel's occupancy rate and business flow, occasionally necessitating overtime hours during high occupancy periods or special events.
The role is pivotal in maintaining smooth operations in the food service section. Duties include greeting guests at their assigned tables, ensuring that menus are provided, taking orders for food and beverages, coordinating with kitchen staff for timely preparation, and delivering orders accurately and promptly. The ideal candidate must be knowledgeable about menu items, including daily specials, procedure for promotion, preparation details, and pricing. To maintain high hygiene and safety standards, all food handling must comply with franchise guidelines and local health department regulations. Periodic checks on tables to inquire about additional requests, suggesting desserts post-meals, and presenting checks thoughtfully all contribute to creating a hospitable environment.
Additional responsibilities include restocking condiments and supplies at the wait station after shifts and occasionally handling room service orders. The individual must be pleasant, customer service-oriented, and work effectively within a team dynamic to assist the Food & Beverage Manager and other colleagues.
This position is vital to the overall guest experience and the efficient operation of the kitchen and dining area. Candidates are expected to have prior wait experience and exhibit good communication skills, including reading and writing tickets and communicating clearly with guests to meet their needs and expectations. Although a high school diploma or equivalent is preferable, it is not an absolute requirement, emphasizing that experience and attitude are highly valued. Personal grooming and courtesy are important traits for this hospitality-centric role.
Working within this role offers an opportunity to be part of a professional food and beverage team in a reputable hotel setting, conducive to developing interpersonal skills, customer service prowess, and knowledge about food and beverage management. The candidate will be part of a service-oriented environment striving to exceed guest expectations and preserve the hotel's high standards.
