Hemenway's is a renowned dining establishment located in downtown Providence, Rhode Island, celebrated for over 30 years as the area's original riverside restaurant specializing in fresh seafood. The Server position is integral to the dining experience at Hemenway's, where warm hospitality and attention to detail create a welcoming atmosphere for all guests. In this role, servers interact directly with patrons, presenting menus, answering questions, and suggesting food and beverage options. Servers will utilize the POS system to accurately record orders, communicate effectively with kitchen and bar staff, and ensure timely delivery of meals and drinks. Observing diners attentively to respond promptly to additional requests is essential, as is managing bill payment efficiently. The ideal candidate will bring a blend of energy, composure, and multitasking skill to thrive in a fast-paced environment, while embracing teamwork to maintain a respectful and equitable workplace culture. Job Requirements
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time
- Ability to lift and move 25-50 pounds
- Be collaborative, using a team approach to creating an equitable workplace environment and have respectful working relationships
Job Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of previous fine dining server experience preferred
- Must have flexible schedule to work during days, nights, weekends, and some holidays as needed
- Must hold Alcohol Safety Certification
Job Duties
- Present menu, answers questions, and makes suggestions regarding food and service
- Record orders in POS system
- Relay orders to kitchen and serve courses from kitchen/service bars
- Observe diners to respond to any additional requests
- Total bills and accept payments
- Always maintain composure and hospitality nature with guests and other staff
