The position involves interacting directly with guests, ensuring their dining experience is exceptional from the moment they arrive until they leave. Employees in this role are responsible for a range of tasks including taking meal and drink orders, preparing tables, serving food with care, and maintaining a clean and safe environment. A focus on product knowledge and menu expertise enhances the guest experience, allowing team members to confidently answer questions and provide recommendations.

The restaurant uses an Aloha Point of Sale System, and it’s important for team members to be adept with this technology to efficiently manage orders. A strong emphasis is placed on food safety and quality control, including monitoring food temperatures and ensuring proper portioning and presentation. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, reliable, and willing to take initiative to meet and exceed Polly’s performance standards. Maintaining a professional appearance and positive attitude, working effectively with team members and management, and adapting to flexible scheduling including days, nights, weekends, and holidays are essential aspects of the job.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • one to two years of related hospitality or customer service experience preferred
  • valid Food Handlers Card if required by county
  • strong communication skills
  • ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
  • ability to stand and move for extended periods
  • reliable and punctual
  • good personal hygiene and professional appearance

Job Qualifications

  • Outstanding customer relation skills and ability to ensure a guest priority culture
  • effective communication and good organization skills
  • accuracy and honesty in handling revenues and aspects of the revenue control system
  • one to two years of experience and/or training with Polly’s preferred
  • ability to act on and solve minor problems as they arise
  • ability to multi-task and work under pressure
  • valid Food Handlers Card if required by county

Job Duties

  • Take verbal drink and meal orders according to guest preference
  • prepare the tables, laying out napkins and utensils, refilling condiments, performing preparation tasks
  • demonstrate menu expertise and identify menu items in Aloha Point of Sale System
  • serve high quality food and check orders for completeness, correct preparation, portion, and appearance
  • monitor and oversee food temperatures to reduce risk of food borne illness
  • consistently exceed Polly’s standards and maintain mystery shopper scores of 90 and above
  • follow proper cash handling procedures as defined by the Cash Handling Policy
  • do whatever it takes to enhance the guest experience, make the connection, and maintain a high Blowtorch level
  • maintain a safe working environment by preventing accidents and preserving equipment
  • promote Polly’s culture, standards, and core values
  • be accountable and responsible for duties
  • restock and clean service area
  • perform side work during downtime including rolling silverware, restocking condiment holders, and cleaning work areas
  • report to work well-groomed, in clean and proper uniform, and practice good personal hygiene
  • work efficiently and respectfully with team members and managers
  • work flexible schedule including days, nights, weekends and holidays
