The role of an Outbacker is essential to maintaining the guest experience Outback is known for. This hourly, non-exempt position offers a competitive pay rate of $16.90 plus tips. Outbackers are the face of the restaurant, responsible for creating a welcoming atmosphere and delivering tailored service with every guest interaction. They are expected to exceed customer expectations through friendly, prompt, and attentive service, using their thorough knowledge of the menu to confidently recommend and upsell items. Duties include preparing food and condiments to Outback standards, ensuring accurate guest orders, bussing tables, delivering food and drinks, and maintaining cleanliness and food safety standards. This position requires teamwork, supporting multiple areas of the restaurant as needed. Outbackers handle cash and credit transactions with accuracy and contribute to a culture that values hard work, perseverance, and leadership. Working at Outback means engaging in a fast-paced environment that demands physical stamina including standing for long periods, lifting up to 30 pounds, and working in both hot and cold conditions. Employees in California are required to obtain Responsible Beverage Service certifications, which can be completed during training. Job Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old to sell alcohol
- Ability to lift, carry, or move up to 30 lbs
- Able to work in hot and cold environments
- Ability to walk and stand for up to 8 hours per shift
- Frequent bending, reaching, kneeling, squatting, and stooping
- Manual dexterity for handling glassware, utensils, and technology
- Ability to move quickly in a fast-paced environment
- Visual ability to adjust focus, work in dim lighting
- Ability to perform essential functions with or without accommodation
- Responsible Beverage Service certification required for California roles
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous experience in food service or hospitality is an advantage
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to learn menu items and upselling techniques
- Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment
- Basic math skills for handling transactions
- Responsible Beverage Service certification (California positions) or willingness to obtain
