Job Description
SSP America is a premier operator of food and beverage outlets located in high-traffic travel environments such as airports, train stations, and motorway service areas. Within the Pittsburgh International Airport, SSP America manages a diverse portfolio of restaurants including Mi Casa and Bad Egg, which are popular destinations for travelers seeking quality dining experiences. This opportunity is for the position of a Server within SSP America’s dynamic team at Pittsburgh International Airport. Serving as the frontline representative, Servers play a crucial role in enhancing the guest experience by providing prompt, friendly, and professional service. The role involves interacting with a diverse and international clientele, requiring excellent communication skills and a customer-focused approach. Servers are responsible for answering questions about menu items, making recommendations, accurately taking and processing orders using the point-of-sale (POS) system, and ensuring guests receive their meals promptly and with a high standard of hospitality.
Servers at SSP America also participate in food preparation tasks such as ladling soups, tossing salads, slicing desserts, and brewing coffee to support efficient service flow. They keep an attentive eye on guests to anticipate needs and respond promptly to any additional requests, providing a personal touch to the dining experience. After the guests finish their meals, Servers clear tables quickly and reset them for the next customer to maintain a clean and welcoming environment.
Financial accuracy is a key aspect, as Servers handle cash and electronic transactions, balance and reconcile checks, and ensure accuracy in billing. This requires basic mathematical skills and attention to detail. The position offers a base pay of $4.00 per hour plus tips, with an average earning potential up to $30 per hour, reflecting the high volume and tip-based nature of the airport restaurant environment.

Job Requirements

Job Qualifications

- Ability to operate a keyboard and point of sale procedures to pre-check an order and close out a check
- Ability to stand and work in confined spaces for long periods of time
Job Duties
- Answer questions and offer suggestions regarding food, beverages, and services of the facility
- Accurately input orders into the POS system
- Prepare dishes for service, to include ladling soup, tossing salads, cutting portions of pie and desserts, and brewing coffee
- Observe guests to anticipate their needs and respond to any additional requests
- Clear all dishes away from table
- Balance and reconcile all assigned open and closed checks by totaling bills and accepting payments
- Clear and reset all counters or tables at the conclusion of each course
- Other duties as assigned
