Job Description
At one of the world’s largest casual dining concepts, Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar is renowned for bringing energy, excitement, and fun to every restaurant experience under its signature promise of "Make it Right, Serve it Fast." Applebee's has established itself as a welcoming neighborhood gathering place where guests come to enjoy craveable food and beverages in a warm, friendly environment. Each day in this vibrant setting is unique, offering a variety of authentic guest experiences ranging from casual family dinners on Sundays to lively Ladies Night Out events. The company takes pride in delivering not just meals but memorable moments, emphasizing community connection and high-quality service as key components of its success.
Joining Applebee's as a server means becoming part of a dynamic team dedicated to exceeding guest expectations through attentive and courteous service. Servers at Applebee's play a crucial role in delivering food and drinks promptly while engaging guests with a friendly and upbeat attitude. The role involves following the brand's Ten Basic Service Steps to ensure consistency and excellence in guest interactions. While prior experience as a restaurant server or front-of-house team member is preferred, it is not a strict requirement. The company welcomes enthusiastic individuals who are eager to learn and contribute to creating a positive dining atmosphere. This is a part-time or full-time opportunity that emphasizes teamwork, communication, and physical mobility throughout the shift.
The position requires greeting guests warmly upon arrival, answering questions about the menu, and making suitable recommendations to enhance the dining experience. Servers utilize a point-of-sale computerized register system to relay orders efficiently to the kitchen and service bar, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery. Beyond technical skills, servers must maintain an alert presence on the floor, observing guests closely and responding promptly to additional requests or needs. Handling guest payment efficiently and respectfully is also a core responsibility, involving correct change transactions or processing credit card payments securely.
The physical demands of the role are significant. Servers need to be mobile throughout their shifts, standing and moving quickly for up to four hours at a stretch. The job requires bending, kneeling, and lifting trays or bus pans frequently weighing up to 25 pounds. Moving glass racks and other supplies is necessary, which underscores the importance of physical stamina and balance for success in this role.
Applebee's is an Equal Opportunity Employer that complies with E-Verify and follows all Ban the Box and Fair Chance Hiring guidelines in accordance with federal and local laws. The company ensures a fair, inclusive hiring process that values diversity and equal access to employment opportunities. Open interviews are held from Monday to Thursday between 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM, providing a direct pathway for interested candidates to join the team and begin their journey at this esteemed casual dining brand.
