The role of a Server at Parry's Pizzeria & Taphouse is integral to maintaining the restaurant's reputation for excellence. Servers are responsible for owning their section, managing guest interactions thoroughly from greeting to goodbye, and ensuring that each dining experience is seamless and satisfying. Servers are trained to apply Parry's proprietary service model known as CHEERS, which focuses on six essential elements: Cheerful Prompt Greet, Hospitality First, Engage Guests, Ease Their Needs, Ready for 'Em, and Swipe That Card - Say Goodbye. This approach guides servers to greet guests warmly, prioritize their comfort, interact personally, anticipate their requirements, efficiently manage table flows, and close each visit with gratitude and clarity. The ability to balance sales goals with genuine hospitality is a defining characteristic of this role.

Additional responsibilities include guiding guests through the menu by explaining the layout and highlighting signature dishes and drinks, making thoughtful recommendations and upselling based on guest preferences, and recognizing the distinctions between first-time visitors and regular customers to tailor the service accordingly. Furthermore, servers communicate important guest insights to teammates to enhance overall service quality and maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards throughout their shifts. They are also expected to handle opening and closing duties accurately and punctually to ensure smooth operations.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Prior experience in a restaurant or hospitality role preferred
  • Must be comfortable with sales and guest interaction
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including nights and weekends
  • Physical ability to stand and move throughout shift
  • Capability to lift up to 20 lbs when necessary
  • Strong communication skills with a focus on guest satisfaction

Job Duties

  • Apply CHEERS at every table by greeting promptly, prioritizing hospitality, engaging guests in conversation, anticipating and easing their needs, managing section flow, and closing with gratitude
  • Guide guests through the menu by explaining layout and highlighting signature items and drinks
  • Make thoughtful recommendations and upsell naturally based on guest preferences
  • Identify first-time guests and regulars and adjust service accordingly
  • Communicate guest insights to teammates including celebrations, preferences, and timing needs
  • Maintain cleanliness, pre-bussing standards, and sanitation throughout the shift
  • Complete opening and closing duties accurately and on time
