The role of a Food and Beverage Server at Marriott Hotels is integral to maintaining these high standards of service. This position involves serving food courses and alcoholic beverages to guests with professionalism and attentiveness while setting tables according to the specific type of event and established service standards. The server acts as a vital link between guests and the kitchen, answering questions regarding menu selections, conveying dietary needs, allergies, and special requests to the culinary team, and managing order accuracy through the MICROS transaction system. Additionally, this role requires diligent follow-up with guests to ensure satisfaction throughout their dining experience, maintaining cleanliness in work areas, and completing closing duties such as restocking items and securing the service area.

Servers are expected to adhere strictly to all company and safety policies while consistently presenting a clean and professional appearance. The role demands physical stamina, including standing and walking for extended periods, the ability to move and lift objects of varying weights (some requiring assistance), and the capability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining excellent hand-eye coordination and motor skills. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
  • at least 1 year of related work experience
  • ability to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods
  • ability to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 25 pounds without assistance and over 50 pounds with assistance
  • ability to reach overhead and below the knees including bending and stooping
  • maintain professionalism and adherence to company policies
  • complete safety training and certifications
  • possess fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination

Job Duties

  • Serve food courses and alcoholic beverages to guests
  • set tables according to type of event and service standards
  • answer questions on menu selections
  • communicate with the kitchen regarding menu questions, length of wait, re-cook orders, and product availability
  • communicate additional meal requirements, allergies, dietary needs, and special requests to the kitchen
  • record transactions in MICROS system at time of order
  • check in with guests to ensure satisfaction with each food course and/or beverage
  • maintain cleanliness of work areas, china, glassware throughout the day
  • complete closing duties including restocking items and turning off lights
  • present physical and accurate check to guest and process payment
