The role of Server at this IHOP location is essential in creating a positive dining experience for all guests. The position involves promptly and efficiently attending to customers by greeting, seating, taking orders, serving food and beverages, managing guest payments, clearing tables, and resetting for subsequent guests. This role requires a courteous demeanor and the ability to follow detailed Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) that ensure every guest receives consistent and high-quality service. Servers are expected to develop and maintain professional working relationships not only with guests but also with fellow employees, fostering a collaborative environment. Being knowledgeable about the menu, plating, and IHOP-specific service terminology is critical to performing well in this position. Handling guest complaints professionally and courteously is also a vital part of the job, as it helps to maintain guest satisfaction and encourage repeat visits.

In addition to engaging with guests, the Server is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and organization in service areas and the dining room, ensuring that supplies are stocked and rotated according to shift requirements. Compliance with health, sanitation, and safety guidelines is mandatory to ensure a safe and pleasant environment for both guests and staff. Physically, the job demands stamina and the ability to perform tasks that require standing, walking, carrying up to 25 pounds, and other physical activities throughout the work shift.
