The Server position at Duffy's is a pivotal role responsible for following the steps of excellent service to ensure every guest has an enjoyable and satisfying dining experience. This role requires a professional with outstanding communication skills, strong knowledge of the MVP program, and the ability to attentively and proactively cater to the needs of the guests. The server will escort guests to their tables when necessary, provide detailed explanations of the menu items including preparation methods and ingredients, upsell food and beverage options to enhance the guest’s visit and increase the average check, and process orders accurately in the POS system.
Additionally, servers at Duffy's play an essential role in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of dining areas by clearing tables, resetting them promptly, and assisting with various side duties including stocking supplies and performing light cleaning tasks such as sweeping and mopping. This position demands a high level of adaptability, stress tolerance, and attention to detail as employees must handle busy periods efficiently while maintaining composure and providing a positive experience for customers. Servers are also responsible for verifying guests' identification to comply with alcohol consumption laws and collecting payments, ensuring all interactions are handled professionally and efficiently.
Beyond the core food and beverage service, servers are encouraged to engage guests by reviewing the MVP program benefits and encouraging feedback through guest reviews. The role requires physical stamina, as servers must stand, walk, and carry out repetitive motions for extended periods while handling potential heavy lifting responsibilities of up to 40 lbs. Job Duties
- Escort guests to their tables when needed
- review MVP program with all guests
- demonstrate strong MVP program knowledge
- review menus to guests and answer questions about menu items, upsell to improve dining experience and raise check average
- write guests' food orders on order pads and repeat orders back
- input guests' order accurately into POS system
- check with guests to ensure satisfaction and address any problems
- verify guests' identification for alcohol consumption
- collect payments from guests
- remove dishes and glasses from tables and take them to kitchen
- clean and reset tables after guests finish dining
- assist host or hostess by answering phones, taking to-go orders, greeting, seating, and thanking guests
- perform cleaning duties such as sweeping, mopping floors, vacuuming carpet, tidying server station, trash removal, and bathroom cleaning
- roll silverware, set up food stations, or prepare dining areas for the next shift or large parties
- stock service areas with supplies such as coffee, tea, beverages, napkins, side plates
- fill salt and pepper shakers and wipe down table tents
- ask guests to leave a review
