The role of Server at Bob Evans is an integral position responsible for ensuring an outstanding guest dining experience by delivering attentive, friendly, and efficient food and beverage service. Servers are expected to utilize their menu knowledge and situational selling techniques to accurately take and input guest orders while communicating promotions and menu details to enhance guest satisfaction. This role requires the ability to interact professionally, respond to guest needs, and handle potential complaints tactfully, escalating to management when appropriate. Servers must maintain company standards for quality and timely service, manage side work duties like pre-bussing tables, and practice safe food handling procedures. Additionally, servers need to be physically capable of standing and walking for long periods, lifting up to 50 pounds, and performing manual tasks involving food service equipment. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 0-2 years related restaurant experience
  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods without rest
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to use hands and fingers to handle objects and controls
  • Ability to bend, stoop, and reach
  • Ability to see close and distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and adjust focus
  • Dependability and exceptional teamwork skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours including early close shifts and no late nights

Job Qualifications

  • Excellent guest service skills and experience
  • Ability to identify and resolve issues as they arise
  • Detail oriented with the ability to multitask
  • Ability to prioritize and demonstrate good organizational skills
  • Computer skills including POS system experience
  • 0-2 years related experience
  • Strong knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in a restaurant
  • Ability to rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals

Job Duties

  • Take guest orders utilizing menu knowledge and situational selling techniques
  • Serve food and beverages promptly ensuring proper preparation and timely delivery following company standards
  • Communicate professionally with guests to determine needs and assist with menu selections
  • Share new promotions and product information with guests
  • Demonstrate knowledge of menu items by describing food properly and serving only quality food
  • Input orders accurately into the POS system
  • Pre-bus tables and assist with approved side work as outlined in the side work binder
  • Practice safe food and beverage handling and maintain cleanliness
  • Safely handle food prep equipment such as knives, coffee maker, iced tea machine
  • Effectively handle guest complaints and involve the manager when appropriate
  • Communicate and interact with guests, manage crowds, and put guests at ease while they wait
  • Assist in other job categories as needed
  • Perform all other duties as assigned
