Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- 4 years experience in culinary, food and beverage, or related professional area
- OR 2-year degree from an accredited university in Culinary Arts, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related major
- 2 years experience in culinary, food and beverage, or related professional area
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to manage kitchen operations and staff
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
- Ability to work full time
- Must be able to work on-site at JW Marriott Essex House New York
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED with 4 years of experience in culinary or related professional area
- OR 2-year degree in Culinary Arts, Hotel and Restaurant Management or related field with 2 years of experience in culinary or related professional area
- Proven leadership capabilities with strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to manage kitchen operations and team development effectively
- Knowledge of food safety standards and sanitation practices
- Experience in budget management and meeting financial goals
- Familiarity with payroll, scheduling, and human resource practices in a culinary environment
Job Duties
- Lead and supervise daily kitchen operations including managing and coordinating cooks and kitchen workers
- Maintain and ensure compliance with food handling, sanitation, and safety standards
- Assist Executive Chef with all kitchen operational responsibilities
- Manage purchasing, receiving and food storage standards
- Prepare and cook food items, ensuring high quality and presentation
- Oversee employee scheduling, payroll administration, and performance management
- Foster a positive work environment encouraging feedback, trust, and recognition among team members
