Job Description
Marriott International is a globally recognized hospitality leader known for its commitment to providing extraordinary experiences to guests and rewarding careers to its associates. Among its distinguished portfolio, JW Marriott stands out as a luxury brand that embodies elegance, innovation, and exceptional service. With over 100 properties in major gateway cities and unique resort locations worldwide, JW Marriott offers an inspiring work environment characterized by community, growth, and comprehensive associate well-being. This luxury hotel brand highly values its associates and follows "The JW Treatment" philosophy, emphasizing that happy employees create happy guests. The culture revolves around confidence, genuineness, innovation, and intuitive service, continuing the legacy of founder J. Willard Marriott. Associates at JW Marriott benefit from extensive training, career development, recognition, and a place to nurture their passions within a luxury setting focused on holistic health and well-being.
The Senior Sales Executive role at JW Marriott Bethesda, Maryland, is a pivotal management position responsible for leading the sales efforts of group events with more than 300 peak room blocks. This full-time role commands a pay range of $37.02 to $48.56 per hour and includes eligibility for bonuses, reflecting the importance of meeting and exceeding sales targets. The Senior Sales Executive serves as the primary on-property liaison for large-group events, managing all facets from contracting and closing business to conducting detailed site inspections. This role requires a sharp understanding of market dynamics, competitor activities, and economic trends, enabling strategic decisions that maximize revenue opportunities and align with both hotel and market demands.
In this leadership capacity, the Senior Sales Executive collaborates closely with area sales teams and off-property sales channels, ensuring complementary efforts that avoid duplication while maximizing market penetration and revenue growth. Duties encompass building and maintaining strong customer relationships through proactive outreach, sales calls, entertainment, trade shows, and familiarization trips, thereby strengthening future business opportunities. The executive also participates in developing and implementing group sales and marketing plans, revenue and operations budgeting, and forecasting reports critical to the hotel's financial success.
A notable aspect of the role is the seamless integration between sales and hotel operations to guarantee exceptional service delivery. The Senior Sales Executive ensures that each group booking is managed efficiently and turned over accurately to the event management team, advocating for superior customer experiences that foster loyalty and satisfaction. Participation in pre- and post-convention meetings aids in assessing service quality elements such as room accommodations, meeting facilities, food and beverage standards, and overall guest satisfaction.
Moreover, the role demands execution of Marriott's Customer Service Standards and brand initiatives, supporting the hotel’s reputation for excellence. This includes managing same-day selling strategies to optimize room occupancy and revenues and engaging in daily service routines that keep the hotel aligned with brand expectations. With a focus on exemplary customer service, the Senior Sales Executive tailors solutions that address customer needs, business issues, and concerns, thereby building long-term relationships and loyalty to the Marriott family.
Marriott International actively promotes diversity and inclusion, fostering an environment where associates' unique backgrounds are respected and valued. This role exemplifies the company's commitment to equal opportunity employment and nurturing a workplace free of discrimination. As a key member of the JW Marriott Bethesda team, the Senior Sales Executive is empowered to make meaningful contributions and grow personally and professionally, supported by Marriott's comprehensive benefits and culture. This opportunity is ideal for candidates who thrive in fast-paced, dynamic sales environments and are passionate about luxury hospitality and service excellence.
