Job Description
The Mayflower Hotel Autograph Collection, located in the heart of Washington, District of Columbia, is a distinguished luxury hotel that is part of the renowned Marriott International portfolio. Known for its rich history and classic elegance, The Mayflower Hotel has been a landmark destination for travelers seeking a unique blend of sophisticated comfort and exceptional service. As a member of the Autograph Collection, this hotel offers guests an experience that combines bold character with originality, designed to attract "The Individualist"—travelers who seek more than just accommodation but a personal narrative woven into their journey. The hotel's prime location on Connecticut Avenue places it close to key cultural, business, and government hubs, making it a preferred choice for both corporate and leisure guests.
The role of the Group Sales Manager at The Mayflower Hotel is a vital management position focused on driving group sales within the pre-defined peak room parameters. This full-time role involves acting as the on-property liaison for group sales, overseeing contracts, closing business deals, conducting site inspections, and ensuring smooth turnover of business to the event management team to guarantee an exemplary service delivery. The Group Sales Manager is responsible for achieving group revenue goals by proactively up-selling opportunities and utilizing innovative sales strategies to maximize profitability. This position offers competitive hourly pay ranging from $41.35 to $54.81 and includes bonus eligibility, recognizing exceptional performance.
A key part of the position includes implementing Marriott's brand service standards and initiatives throughout the sales process. The Group Sales Manager directly influences customer loyalty by delivering service excellence, ensuring that each customer’s experience is memorable and exceeds expectations. Collaborating closely with the property’s management team, the individual in this role contributes to developing and executing group sales and marketing plans that align with the hotel’s revenue objectives and market positioning.
Additionally, this role requires building and nurturing strong relationships within the community and across sales channels to foster a robust customer base for group and catering sales opportunities. Responsibilities also extend to forecasting sales, monitoring market trends, negotiating contracts, and managing budgets to optimize revenue. The Group Sales Manager plays a critical role in customer satisfaction by partnering with event management and operations teams to deliver seamless events and programs.
Marriott International is committed to a diverse and inclusive work environment, celebrating the unique backgrounds and talents of its associates. The Group Sales Manager position offers a dynamic career opportunity to be part of a global team while making a significant impact at a historic and vibrant hotel. Ideal candidates will have a strong background in sales and marketing, exceptional negotiation skills, and a passion for delivering outstanding guest experiences within the hospitality industry.
