Job Description
Marriott International is a globally renowned hospitality company with a rich legacy of delivering exceptional guest experiences across a diverse portfolio of brands. Among these brands, the Atlanta Marriott Marquis stands out as a premier hotel property located in the vibrant heart of Atlanta, Georgia at 265 Peachtree Center Ave NE. This full-service hotel offers an impressive array of amenities and event spaces that cater to business travelers, tourists, and groups alike. The hotel is known for its contemporary design, expansive meeting facilities, and dedication to service excellence, making it a preferred choice for conferences, group events, and luxury accommodations.
The position open at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis is a full-time, management-level role within the Sales & Marketing department, specifically focused on group sales under the property sales segment. This role comes with a competitive pay range of $46.15 to $63.46 per hour and includes bonus eligibility based on performance. The Sales Manager for Group Sales is a critical role that acts as the on-property liaison for managing group business within the pre-defined peak room parameters. The position involves contracting and closing group sales, conducting site inspections, and ensuring timely and effective turnover of business to the operations team to guarantee the delivery of quality service.
In this role, the Sales Manager is tasked with achieving group revenue goals by proactively responding to incoming group and catering opportunities, skillfully negotiating contracts, and creatively upselling each business opportunity to maximize revenue. The role requires a deep understanding of the local market, competitive landscape, economic trends, and customer needs, allowing the Sales Manager to strategically position the Atlanta Marriott Marquis to capture business and enhance profitability. This involves partnering with area sales teams, developing forecasting reports, and collaborating with management to create and implement comprehensive group sales and marketing plans.
The Sales Manager also has a vital responsibility to cultivate and strengthen relationships with new and existing customers through various outreach methods such as sales calls, entertainment, familiarization (FAM) trips, and trade shows. Building these relationships not only facilitates future bookings but also drives customer loyalty through the consistent delivery of exceptional service. The role collaborates closely with event management and operations to provide a seamless and memorable customer experience that exceeds expectations.
A key component of this position is to execute Marriott's customer service standards and brand initiatives fully, ensuring that every stage of the sales process embodies the brand's ethos of service excellence. The Sales Manager will actively participate in pre- and post-convention meetings, conduct site inspections as required, and monitor same-day selling procedures to optimize room revenue and hotel occupancy.
Marriott International values diversity and inclusivity, aspiring to create an environment where associates feel welcomed, celebrated, and supported in their growth. As a member of the Marriott team, the Sales Manager joins a company committed to equal opportunity employment, holistic well-being, and continuous development through training and career advancement programs.
Joining the Atlanta Marriott Marquis as a Group Sales Manager means becoming part of a globally recognized hospitality leader dedicated to "Wonderful Hospitality. Always." The role offers a unique opportunity to leverage sales expertise in a dynamic and thriving hotel environment while contributing meaningfully to its business success and vibrant community connections.
