One of its luxury brands, JW Marriott, exemplifies this mission by offering a distinct blend of luxury, comfort, and holistic well-being to its guests and associates alike. Located at the Oakland Convention Center in Oakland, California, this position represents an exciting opportunity to join a prestigious company dedicated to hospitality and exemplary customer care. Marriott International values diversity, embraces different backgrounds, and offers equal employment opportunities while fostering a culture of growth and inclusion. Joining Marriott means becoming part of a global community where associates are encouraged to innovate, grow professionally, and thrive in a supportive environment. The company offers competitive compensation, including hourly pay between $46.15 and $60.58, supplemented by bonus eligibility based on performance and contribution to group revenue goals. This full-time management role focuses on group sales and marketing, specifically managing group sales activities within designated peak room parameters. The position requires acting as the on-property liaison for group sales and involves negotiating and closing group business, conducting site inspections, supporting the sales to operations turnover, and implementing the brand's service strategy. It requires coordination with sales offices, event management teams, and operations to ensure customer satisfaction and successful group event execution. The role also includes developing and implementing marketing plans, forecasting revenue while maximizing business opportunities, and actively upselling to meet revenue goals. In this capacity, the successful candidate will employ strong negotiating skills and market knowledge to close the best opportunities aligned with the property's needs. The position commands a keen ability to build and sustain successful relationships with clients, community members, and internal teams to expand the customer base and enhance customer loyalty. This role involves working collaboratively with off-property sales channels and participating in marketing promotions, pre- and post-convention meetings, and brand service initiatives. The ideal candidate will also help foster an exceptional customer experience by understanding client needs and recommending suitable services that exceed expectations while adhering to Marriott's customer service standards. Site inspections and monitoring of same-day selling procedures to optimize room revenue are key operational aspects of the role. The position also requires creating effective mechanisms to resolve guest issues stemming from the sales process, ensuring smooth communication between sales and operations, and contributing to brand strategy implementation.
