Job Description

ABM (NYSE: ABM) is one of the world’s largest providers of facility services and solutions, dedicated to creating cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable environments. Established in 1909, ABM delivers a comprehensive range of essential services including janitorial, engineering, parking management, electrical and lighting, energy and electric vehicle infrastructure, HVAC and mechanical services, landscape maintenance, and mission-critical solutions. ABM’s vast service portfolio supports various industries such as commercial office buildings, universities, airports, hospitals, data centers, manufacturing plants, distribution centers, entertainment venues, and more. With a workforce exceeding 100,000 team members and over 350 offices worldwide, ABM maintains an annual revenue approaching $8 billion. The company is committed to diversity, equal opportunity, and accommodating individuals with disabilities, ensuring a supportive and inclusive workplace.

This position offers an annual salary of $90,000, reflecting a competitive range suited for candidates based on their experience, expertise, and geographic considerations. The role operates on an overnight shift from approximately 11:00 PM to 5:00 AM with some weekend hours required. This is a full-time position with access to ABM’s comprehensive benefits package.

The role focuses on managing and executing high-detail cleaning and preventive maintenance programs within commercial kitchens and complex specialty cleaning environments. Key responsibilities include overseeing deep-cleaning projects for exhaust hood systems, grease traps, floor drains, walk-in coolers/freezers, ice machines, food-prep equipment, and high-value decorative elements like themed art pieces and sculptures using preservation-safe, non-abrasive methods. The position entails planning quarterly deep-clean cycles across roughly 122 areas, establishing master cleaning schedules aligned with risk and usage, coordinating with vendor partners, and identifying sanitation-related equipment concerns for timely maintenance.

Sanitation and food safety leadership are crucial aspects of the role. The candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and continuously improving Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs) to ensure compliance with FDA Food Code, local health codes, and other applicable food safety regulations. The role also demands leadership in conducting and documenting sanitation audits, corrective actions, chemical control management, and training staff in sanitation methods, cleaning techniques, and contamination prevention.

Regulatory compliance and inspection readiness are vital to the position. Acting as the primary point of contact for health inspections, the candidate will maintain essential documentation such as temperature and cleaning logs, pest control reports, chemical inventories, and employee food safety certifications. The position requires conducting mock inspections to guarantee ongoing preparedness and adherence to regulatory standards.

Operational management responsibilities include overseeing kitchen, restaurant, decorative, and high-visibility areas to maintain uncompromising quality standards. The role will manage labor scheduling that aligns with cleaning timelines without disrupting operational flow, control budgets for chemicals, personal protective equipment (PPE), equipment, and contracted services, and maintain inventory for supplies and equipment. The candidate will ensure consistent service delivery reflecting “white-glove” expectations.

Team leadership and staff training are integral. The position demands training team members on cleaning processes, ongoing training programs, route cards, workflow efficiencies, chemical and equipment safety, and enforcing sanitation compliance. The leader will promote a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and service excellence.

This role is ideal for professionals with a minimum of five years’ experience managing commercial kitchen operations or complex cleaning programs, possessing strong knowledge of restaurant sanitation, deep cleaning, FDA Food Code compliance, HACCP-based food safety programs, and a proven ability to lead in high-paced, guest-centric environments. Customer service skills and commercial kitchen cleaning experience are essential. Preferred certifications include Certified Food Protection Manager (ServSafe or equivalent), HACCP Certification, Project Management Professional (PMP), and expertise in multi-unit or high-volume foodservice operations, facility sanitation, and handling delicate themed décor and art installations.

Joining ABM means becoming part of a global leader committed to sustainability, innovation, and quality in facility services. ABM provides a rich professional environment with extensive training programs, career growth opportunities, and a strong dedication to employee welfare.
