The City of Sacramento, a vibrant and diverse municipality, is looking to hire a Senior Parking Lot Attendant to join its team managing off-street parking garage operations. As a vital part of the city’s transportation infrastructure, the parking facilities serve residents, visitors, and businesses by providing organized, secure, and efficient parking options across the city. Sacramento operates five large municipal parking garages, which see extensive use throughout the year, including more than 3,300 special events annually. Job Requirements
- Eighteen months of cashiering experience involving considerable public contact and record keeping duties
- possession of a valid California Class C Driver License at time of appointment
- willingness to work weekends, holidays, nights, and in inclement weather
- ability to frequently move between five large parking garages
- flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment
- ability to pass LiveScan fingerprinting and other background checks
- ability to provide proof of education if applicable
- ability to pass any required pre-employment medical or substance tests
- willingness to act as lead and supervise other parking lot staff as needed
Job Qualifications
- Knowledge of parking lot operation, regulations, and procedures
- knowledge of fee collection and recording methods
- knowledge of bank depositing procedures
- knowledge of daily reconciliation and reporting of cashiering activities
- knowledge of basic arithmetic and calculation techniques
- knowledge of basic accounting procedures and practices
- ability to effectively work with the public and others involved in parking lot operations
- ability to operate a cash register, computer, and adding machine and make necessary cash transactions with speed and accuracy
- ability to make change and compute accurate parking fees
- ability to keep accurate records of fees received
- ability to record revenues and identify errors
- ability to identify maintenance and repair needs of a parking facility
- ability to train, instruct, and assist others in parking lot operations
- ability to perform basic repair and maintenance functions at a parking facility as necessary
Job Duties
- Lead and participate in the operation of one or more municipal parking facilities
- give claim checks and direct drivers to parking spaces
- count and make cash deposits
- instruct and direct the work of parking lot operations and maintenance personnel
- collect parking fees, compute time parked and amounts of fees
- prepare daily revenue reports and post cash deposits and validations
- maintain records of vehicles parked and facility usage
- operate automatic revenue control equipment
- inspect parking facilities and report maintenance or repair needs
- count validation tickets
- find and correct errors
- provide routine information to the public relating to parking procedures or location of streets, buildings and points of public interest
- identify and report necessary supplies or items to be purchased
- assist less experienced personnel by demonstrating work procedures and methods
- report accidents or damage occurring on the parking lot
- request relief parking lot attendants as needed
- relieve other parking lot attendants as necessary
- act as section leader in supervisor's absence
- perform other related duties as assigned
