Job Description
HEICO Corporation has been a steadfast leader for more than 65 years, specializing in providing innovative and cost-saving products and services to niche markets in the aviation, defense, space, and electronic industries. Known for its robust high-energy culture, HEICO emphasizes delivering high-quality products while fostering an environment that motivates and challenges its Team Members to continuously perform at their best. The company has been recognized by Forbes Magazine as one of the 200 Best Small Companies for four consecutive years, underscoring its excellence and growth in the niche industrial sector. Employees at HEICO benefit from competitive compensation packages, paid vacation and holidays, an excellent 401K plan with company match, and comprehensive medical, dental, life, and disability insurance plans.
The Senior CMM Programmer / Metrology Technician role is an integral position within HEICO’s quality assurance and manufacturing support teams. This full-time position focuses on providing essential reverse engineering, production support, and the development of inspection plans that uphold HEICO’s commitment to precision and high standards. The role requires expertise in creating inspection programs for Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) using PC-DMIS software and performing first-article inspections to ensure product compliance with engineering requirements. This position collaborates closely with Project Engineers and various departments to aid in supplier dimensional correlation, technical inspection challenges, and the practical application of inspection equipment. The candidate will also provide critical feedback on engineering drawings and dimensioning, leveraging profound knowledge of ASME Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years of related work experience, particularly skilled in handling various metrology equipment including CMM, Video Measure Machines, Optical/laser scanners, Form Tracers, and Layout tools. Familiarity with SolidWorks or other 3D CAD software is highly desirable to support the reverse engineering and inspection processes effectively. The role demands a high level of detail orientation, accuracy, flexibility for occasional extended hours, and the capability to work independently without supervision. As part of the job, the Senior CMM Programmer / Metrology Technician must also maintain a proactive approach in self-verification and validation of inspection methods. Training or experience with Geomagic and optical scanning technologies enhances the candidate’s profile significantly.
This position operates in office and laboratory environments, with periodic exposure to medium to high noise levels on the manufacturing floor. Physical demands include the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, use fine hand movements to handle components, and apply sophisticated analytical skills to solve inspection challenges. The company values candidates who demonstrate strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office and PC-DMIS software, as well as excellent communication abilities in English, both written and verbal, to effectively engage with project teams and external clients. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a leading company with a rich heritage and a dynamic work environment that encourages growth and excellence.
