Job Description
Marriott International is a globally recognized leader in hospitality, known for its dedication to exceptional guest experiences across a diverse portfolio of brands. One of its luxury divisions, JW Marriott, exemplifies the highest standards of service and elegance, operating more than 100 beautiful properties worldwide in prominent gateway cities and distinctive resort locations. Marriott International prides itself on fostering an inclusive and equitable workplace where employees from a wide variety of backgrounds, talents, and experiences come together to create memorable and authentic hospitality moments. JW Marriott specifically focuses on creating a work environment that balances the well-being of its associates with opportunities for professional development, recognition, and the pursuit of passion within a luxury setting. This culture of care and commitment to excellence is foundational to how JW Marriott operates and ensures the delivery of its trademarked signature service, The JW Treatment™.
The Orlando World Center Marriott, located at 8701 World Center Drive in Orlando, Florida, stands as one of Marriott's flagship properties, offering expansive event spaces, top-notch amenities, and unparalleled service capabilities. As part of its continuous commitment to hosting exceptional events, the property seeks a seasoned Event Manager to join its dynamic team on a full-time, management-level basis. The expected salary range for this position is between $85,000 and $113,000 annually, with eligibility for performance bonuses.
In this role, the Event Manager holds key responsibility for preparing all event documentation, coordinating across multiple departments including Sales and various property segments, and ensuring a consistent, high level of service throughout the entire lifecycle of events, from pre-event preparations through to post-event wrap-ups. This position primarily manages complex events, ensuring a seamless transition from sales to service and back to sales. Acting as the primary point of contact for clients once their files are turned over from Sales, the Event Manager champions the overall client experience on property.
Responsibilities include leading pre-event and post-event meetings, identifying and resolving operational challenges, managing customer budgets, overseeing group room blocks and meeting space, and maintaining open lines of communication with both internal teams and clients. The incumbent continually seeks opportunities to maximize revenue through up-selling and enhancing event experiences. The Event Manager also represents leadership in the absence of the Director of Event Management or Director of Event Planning and Operations, thus playing a pivotal role in the operational success and profitability of events.
Because Marriott International values a diverse workforce and promotes an equal opportunity workplace, the selected candidate will be welcomed into an environment that nurtures creativity and personal growth. The Event Manager position offers a unique opportunity to flourish in a high-profile hospitality setting where one’s skills can significantly impact guest satisfaction and organizational success. Working with a renowned brand like Marriott Hotels and specifically the prestige associated with JW Marriott means the individual can expect a supportive culture, extensive training opportunities, and the chance to contribute to a global legacy of outstanding hospitality.
