Job Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Refrigeration or electricity certification (issued or pending)
  • Universal certification in chlorofluorocarbons (CFC)
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Completion of a two-year technical program in HVAC or refrigeration
  • Minimum of two years experience in hotel engineering or maintenance
  • Ability to perform complex mechanical, electrical, plumbing repairs
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Commitment to company safety policies and local codes
  • Physical ability to lift and move objects up to and over 50 pounds
  • Willingness to work full-time on-site at The Inn at Opryland

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Completion of a two-year technical program in HVAC or refrigeration
  • Extensive experience and training in general maintenance including advanced repairs, electricity, refrigeration, surface preparation, and painting
  • Minimum of two years experience in hotel engineering or maintenance
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Refrigeration or electricity certification (issued or pending)
  • Universal certification in chlorofluorocarbons (CFC)
  • Basic knowledge of building systems, emergency response, and ability to read blueprints and electrical diagrams
  • Advanced mechanical and engineering skills across HVAC, plumbing, electricity, carpentry, and energy-saving controls
  • Proficiency in safe use of hand and power tools
  • Ability to train and supervise junior engineers
  • Effective communication skills
  • Commitment to safety and compliance

Job Duties

  • Respond to and attend guest repair requests
  • Communicate with guests and clients to resolve maintenance issues
  • Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment including cleaning and lubrication
  • Visually inspect tools, equipment, or machines
  • Transport equipment such as tools and radios
  • Identify, locate, and operate all shut-off valves for equipment and general service keys for buildings
  • Keep maintenance inventory and request parts and supplies as needed
  • Communicate daily activities and problems to other shift employees using appropriate communication methods
  • Demonstrate advanced skill in general mechanical operations and engineering functions
  • Perform highly complex repairs on physical property, electrical systems, plumbing, mechanical systems, HVAC, refrigeration, and pool heaters ensuring compliance with company standards and local codes
  • Conduct routine property inspections for safety hazards and equipment malfunctions and take corrective actions
  • Use Lockout/Tagout system before maintenance work
  • Train and guide other engineers and act as a supervisor when managers are absent
  • Perform Engineer on Duty responsibilities including readings and rounds
  • Comply with company's safety policies and procedures
  • Maintain professional appearance and uphold privacy and property protection
  • Greet and recognize all guests following company standards, anticipate and meet guest service needs
  • Foster positive working relationships and support team objectives
  • Use clear and professional language when communicating
  • Safely move, lift, and transport objects up to and over 50 pounds
  • Enter and access work-related information using computers or point-of-sale systems
  • Perform other reasonable work tasks as requested
