Job Description

White Lodging is a prominent hospitality company known for developing and operating a portfolio of award-winning, premium-brand hotels, rooftop bars, and restaurants across some of the most vibrant and desirable cities in the United States. With a dedication to excellence and a reputation built on creating memorable guest experiences, White Lodging has established itself as a leader in the hospitality industry. The company prides itself on fostering a workplace culture where associates are empowered to be their best selves, grow professionally, and deliver exceptional service that truly makes people feel valued and welcomed. The JW Marriott Charlotte, one of White Lodging’s distinguished properties, exemplifies luxury and high-standard hospitality services, drawing guests from around the world. Located in a bustling city known for its rich culture and business opportunities, JW Marriott Charlotte offers an exciting work environment for individuals passionate about food and beverage service and culinary arts.

The role of a Cook at JW Marriott Charlotte is a vital position within the food and beverage team, designed for individuals who are dedicated not only to culinary excellence but also to mentoring and supporting less experienced team members. The position offers advanced scheduling flexibility, utilizing an app that allows team members to swap or pick up shifts with ease, helping to create an ideal work-life balance. This flexibility is especially attractive for those pursuing their passion in the food and beverage industry without sacrificing personal commitments. As a Cook, you will be responsible for overseeing daily preparations, ensuring adherence to company policies, health regulations, and federal guidelines, all while maintaining the highest food quality and safety standards. Your expertise in basic cooking techniques such as sautéing, broiling, frying, roasting, butchery, garde manger, pantry, and breakfast cookery will be crucial in delivering consistent, high-quality dishes that meet guest expectations.

Mentorship is a key component of this role, as you will provide guidance and oversight to entry-level cooks and apprentices, helping to cultivate a collaborative and respectful kitchen environment. In addition to food preparation, the position involves contributing to food and labor cost management, monitoring ingredient freshness, and ensuring compliance with culinary standards and portion control. By positively influencing guest feedback through the quality and consistency of food and service, you will play an essential role in upholding the JW Marriott Charlotte's reputation for excellence.

White Lodging also deeply values the welfare of its associates by offering an extensive benefits package starting from day one. These benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance, life insurance, disability coverage, paid parental leave, and financial incentives such as daily pay options and 401(k) plans with company match. Employees have access to leadership development, tuition reimbursement, employee assistance programs, vacation and paid time off with rollover, wellness tools, and discounts on hotel stays, dining, and travel experiences. This comprehensive benefits structure supports the overall well-being and professional growth of team members, making this role a rewarding opportunity for aspiring culinary professionals who seek stability, advancement, and a fulfilling career in hospitality.
