The Senior Line Cook at Marriott Indianapolis is an hourly position responsible for producing high-quality food products and creating outstanding plate presentations for the restaurant operations. This role requires a strong set of cooking skills and techniques, combined with the ability to manage daily kitchen operations effectively while adhering to all hotel standards. The Senior Line Cook not only prepares food but also mentors junior cooks and apprentices, ensuring consistent food quality, safety, and compliance with company policies, health department regulations, and federal guidelines.
In this role, the Senior Line Cook has the opportunity to influence guest satisfaction through the quality and presentation of their culinary contributions, and to play a part in controlling food and labor costs to maximize operational efficiency. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in cooking or kitchen operations preferred
- Ability to stand for extended periods and work in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of proper food safety and sanitation practices
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Flexibility to work various shifts including weekends and holidays
- Ability to follow health department and federal regulations
Job Qualifications
- Knowledge of all cooking and preparation equipment
- Basic cooking skills including sautéing, broiling, frying, roasting, butchery, garde manger, pantry, and breakfast cookery
- Culinary education or apprenticeship preferred but not mandatory
- Ability to stand and move at a fast pace for long periods of time
Job Duties
- Mentor entry-level cooks and apprentices while overseeing daily preparation and production in your food outlet
- Follow company food and beverage procedures, health department regulations, and federal guidelines
- Ensure proper food handling and storage procedures are followed at all times
- Assist in maintaining food cost and labor cost standards
- Check freshness of foods and ingredients, ensuring all recipes and portion-use records are followed
- Monitor and positively influence guest feedback scores through food quality and service consistency
- Foster a climate of cooperation and respect between coworkers
- Perform other duties as assigned
