Job Description
Marriott International is a global leader in the hospitality industry, renowned for its dedication to exceptional guest experiences and a commitment to fostering inclusive and supportive work environments. As one of the world's largest and most respected hotel companies, Marriott operates a diverse portfolio of over 30 brands, including the luxury JW Marriott hotels, that span across renowned cities and resort destinations worldwide. Marriott International is known not only for its high standards of service and hospitality but also for providing comprehensive career growth opportunities and a vibrant, collaborative workplace culture.
Located in Houston's Medical Center/Museum District, the Houston Marriott Medical Center/Museum District facility is part of this prestigious family. This property upholds Marriott's high standards by delivering exquisite hospitality and a welcoming ambiance that caters to a diverse range of guests in one of Houston's busiest and most vibrant areas.
The Human Resources position at Houston Marriott Medical Center offers a full-time, non-management role that is central to supporting the hotel management and leadership teams with various essential HR functions. This role involves assisting management and leaders in handling and resolving HR-related issues effectively, which directly contributes to the smooth daily operations of the hotel. The position requires managing internal and external employee transfers, supporting recruitment processes such as drug testing, reference checks, background checks, motor vehicle department verifications, and social security number validation to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal employment laws.
Additionally, the HR role involves meticulous maintenance of applicant flow records, drug testing documentation, orientations, and transfer applications, alongside the creation and management of new employee and staff files within the hotel's HR information systems. The HR specialist will play an active role in delivering new employee orientation and ensuring adherence to all hiring procedures. This includes maintaining accurate employee records such as interview documents and I-9 forms, processing payroll records in line with company policies, and providing timely HR data reports as needed.
The position demands excellent communication skills to interact professionally with staff at all levels, accurately prepare and review written documents, respond to phone calls with appropriate etiquette, and foster positive working relationships within the team. The HR associate will also be expected to train new employees on processes, policies, and HR systems, contributing to a robust onboarding experience.
Physical requirements of the role include the ability to move, lift, transport, push, drag, and position objects weighing up to 10 pounds without assistance. Furthermore, this role underscores Marriott's core values of respect, inclusion, and professionalism by requiring employees to maintain a clean, professional appearance and uphold the confidentiality of company information consistently.
Marriott International is committed to equal employment opportunities and celebrates diversity and inclusion in the workplace. This position offers a remarkable opportunity to be part of a global hospitality leader dedicated to the growth and well-being of its employees and delivering outstanding service to its guests. Joining Marriott means becoming part of a global team that embodies innovation, genuine hospitality, and career development within the luxury hotel sector represented by JW Marriott.
