The medical center is dedicated to supporting a diverse workforce, fostering an inclusive environment for all employees, and maintaining the highest standards in healthcare and operational excellence.
This role is for a Senior Food Service Worker at East Campus Dietary department, an essential position responsible for contributing to the patient food service operations. This full-time career appointment comes with a competitive hourly wage of $25.00 and a total annual pay range mapped between $43,952 and $52,555, prorated for appointment percentage if less than 100%. The position operates under a union contract (SX Contract) and involves variable 8-hour shifts scheduled throughout all days of the week, providing flexibility but requiring adaptability.
The Senior Food Service Worker plays a critical role in delivering quality dietary services to patients and staff by performing a variety of food service-related duties under close supervision. The incumbent is responsible for assembling patient trays and food carts promptly while adhering strictly to departmental quality standards and sanitation procedures. Attention to detail in food production and catering duties is pivotal, along with routine cleaning and restocking of service areas. The role also requires compliance with department recipes, proper labeling and dating of prepared foods, and strict adherence to safety and hygiene policies including dress code maintenance.
Employees in this role are valued for their customer service skills, their ability to function efficiently in a fast-paced environment, and their commitment to maintaining the highest standards of food safety and sanitation. Furthermore, these workers support the culinary operations vital to the comfort and care of patients in a healthcare setting, directly impacting patient satisfaction and wellbeing.
UC San Diego Health provides full benefits effective from the first day of hire. These benefits include health, vision, and dental coverage, as well as meal vouchers and complimentary beverages such as coffee and tea. Additional perks include 15 vacation days and 14 paid holidays annually, work-life balance support, and work shoes provided by the department.
