Job Description

Sheraton Fairplex Suites & Conference Center, located in Pomona, California, is part of the prestigious Sheraton Hotels & Resorts brand under Marriott International's global portfolio. Opening its doors to guests and events since 1937, Sheraton has established itself as a premier meeting and hospitality destination known for delivering memorable experiences through exceptional service and attention to detail. The Pomona location is strategically positioned to serve diverse events from conferences to social gatherings, providing a versatile venue equipped with modern amenities and a dedicated team committed to creating seamless event execution.

At Sheraton Fairplex Suites & Conference Center, the focus extends beyond simply hosting events; it is about creating unique, lasting experiences where every guest feels welcomed and valued. Being part of the Marriott International family, Sheraton emphasizes inclusivity, equal opportunity employment, and fostering a culturally rich environment that celebrates diversity. The property’s management is deeply committed to the professional growth and satisfaction of its associates, encouraging a collaborative and respectful workplace.

The Event Manager position at Sheraton Fairplex Suites & Conference Center offers an exciting opportunity to join a full-time management role within the Event Management category. This role offers an annual salary range of $71,000 to $94,000 and includes bonus eligibility, reflecting the significance and responsibility the position holds within the property's operational success. The position is based on-site in Pomona and requires direct interaction with customers and various property departments to ensure core business objectives are met and exceeded.

The core function of the Event Manager role involves preparing all event documentation and coordinating closely with Sales, property departments, and customers to maintain a consistent and high-level service throughout all phases of property events — pre-event, event, and post-event. The Event Manager primarily focuses on handling complex events and serves as the linchpin for ensuring a seamless transition from Sales to Service and back to Sales. This role recognizes potential revenue opportunities, leveraging these to up-sell and offer enhancements that contribute to outstanding and memorable events.

The position also acts as a direct representative for the Director of Event Management or Director of Event Planning and Operations during their absence, providing leadership and guidance to maintain operational continuity. As the primary on-site contact for event planning post-sales turnover, the Event Manager is responsible for the customer's experience and satisfaction throughout the event lifecycle.

Key responsibilities include leading pre-event and post-event meetings, solving operational challenges, managing budgets to maximize revenue while meeting client expectations, overseeing customer experience from file turnover to post-event, and managing group room blocks and meeting spaces effectively. The Event Manager also plays a vital role in sales and marketing by participating in site inspections, supporting sales efforts, acting as a liaison between sales personnel and clients, and executing strategies aimed at maximizing profitability through careful revenue management and forecasting.

Customer service excellence is paramount; hence, the Event Manager routinely interacts with guests to obtain feedback, handle complaints, ensure a positive presence throughout the event process, and follow-up post-event to enhance service performance continually. This role demands proactive communication skills, both verbal and written, to coordinate efficiently across internal departments and external clients.

Joining Sheraton means becoming part of a global community that values belonging, purpose, and professional growth. The company embraces an equal opportunity employment philosophy, encourages diverse backgrounds, and provides a supportive environment conducive to being the best version of oneself while delivering unparalleled guest experiences. If you are passionate about event management, dedicated to exceptional customer service, and eager to contribute to a dynamic team, the Event Manager role at Sheraton Fairplex Suites & Conference Center presents a rewarding career path in the hospitality industry.
