Job Description
Vast is a pioneering aerospace company with a bold mission to enable humanity's long-term habitation and thriving existence in space. The company is committed to developing artificial gravity space stations, a revolutionary technology designed to negate the harmful effects of zero gravity on human health during extended space travel or stays. This groundbreaking initiative is set to culminate in the launch of Haven-1, Vast's first crewed commercial space habitat, planned to orbit Earth by May 2026. By spearheading this innovative project, Vast is positioning itself at the forefront of space exploration and commercial space habitation, attracting talent driven by a passion for advancing humanity's presence beyond Earth.
Joining Vast means becoming part of an all-in team dedicated to executing complex, high-stakes projects safely, on schedule, and with absolute commitment. The culture encourages innovation, collaboration, and a shared mission to rethink what is possible for the future of human life in space.
Within this visionary environment, the Senior Manager of Events role is integral to promoting Vast's mission through strategic event planning and flawless execution. Reporting directly to the Director of Marketing Operations, the Senior Manager will be responsible for overseeing the logistics and construction management of events, including high-profile trade shows and bespoke on-site and off-site activations. This full-time, exempt position is based in Long Beach, California, offering an opportunity to work closely with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders to create impactful, brand-aligned event experiences.
The Senior Manager of Events will lead the planning, organization, and on-the-ground execution of multiple annual events, including three major industry trade shows and a variety of unique events designed to elevate Vast's profile within the aerospace and technology sectors. The role requires hands-on involvement in live event management, serving as the primary on-site contact to address real-time challenges, coordinate staff and vendors, and ensure that all aspects of the event run smoothly from setup to breakdown.
In addition to on-site responsibilities, the Senior Manager will act as a project manager for each event, managing timelines, budgets, travel logistics, vendor relationships, and production details. They will directly liaise with external tradespeople such as exhibit builders, A/V teams, and lighting designers to ensure booth construction and activations meet the highest standards. Collaboration with internal departments including marketing, business development, facilities, and executive leadership is essential to align event strategies with business goals and brand storytelling.
This role demands exceptional organizational skills, proficiency in project management tools, and a deep understanding of event production and fabrication processes. The ideal candidate will have at least seven years of experience managing complex events, particularly trade shows and experiential activations, and must possess strong communication skills and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders under pressure.
Vast offers a competitive salary ranging from $105,000 to $135,000 USD, complemented by a comprehensive benefits package. Full-time employees enjoy 100% coverage of medical, dental, and vision insurance for themselves and their dependents, flexible paid time off, paid parental leave, disability and life insurance, a 401(k) retirement plan, wellness memberships, and various perks including high-quality meals and refreshments on-site. The company actively supports career growth in a dynamic setting, with a focus on safety, compliance, and ethical employment practices.
This position requires willingness to travel as needed to support event execution and the ability to work on-site at Vast's Long Beach location, facilitating close collaboration with the team. Candidates must meet U.S. export control compliance status and be eligible to handle controlled information. Vast is an equal opportunity employer committed to inclusivity and diversity in the workplace, valuing merit and qualifications above all else.
