Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum 6 years experience in event management, food and beverage, sales and marketing, or related professional area
  • OR Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or related major
  • Minimum 3 years experience in event management or related professional area
  • Ability to manage complex events and high touch convention groups
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in sales and catering software
  • Ability to forecast revenues and maximize group revenue
  • Experience in staff training and development
  • Knowledge of EEO and AA policies
  • Ability to conduct planning meetings and site inspections

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Bachelor’s degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or related major preferred
  • Minimum 3 years experience in event management or related professional area
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities
  • Knowledge of sales and catering systems
  • Familiarity with convention and meeting industry trends
  • Proven ability to handle complex client needs and conflicts
  • Experience in forecasting and revenue analysis

Job Duties

  • Manage and coordinate convention services activities associated with planning, supervising and executing events for complex and high touch groups
  • Plan and develop programs, agendas, and services according to client requirements
  • Communicate all group specifications and history to operational departments
  • Ensure event specifications are implemented and executed to guidelines
  • Partner with senior leadership to implement process improvements
  • Accurately forecast group revenues
  • Promote proper use of function and event spaces
  • Maximize group revenue by referring available goods and services to convention groups
  • Assist with training and development initiatives for the convention services staff
  • Oversee contracted group room blocks including cutoffs and attrition
  • Create external communications such as contract addendums and introductory letters
  • Host planning meetings, site inspections, and pre-convention meetings
  • Promote client satisfaction through smooth execution of assigned conventions
  • Communicate all details of catering events to operating departments and customers
  • Manage quality process in areas of customer service and employee satisfaction
  • Provide coaching and counseling to employees
  • Direct development, training, and mentoring of employees
  • Motivate and provide a productive work environment
  • Manage group or interpersonal conflict situations effectively
  • Adhere to EEO and AA policies
