Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or ged
  • 6 years experience in event management, food and beverage, sales and marketing or related area
  • or bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in hotel and restaurant management, hospitality, business administration or related major
  • 3 years experience in event management or related area
  • strong communication skills
  • ability to work full time at the resort location
  • management experience
  • ability to use sales and catering software
  • knowledge of customer service and employee management principles

Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma or ged with 6 years event management, food and beverage, sales and marketing or related professional experience
  • bachelor’s degree in hotel and restaurant management, hospitality, business administration or related field with 3 years event management or related experience
  • experience managing complex conventions and client relationships
  • strong communication and organizational skills
  • knowledge of sales and catering systems
  • leadership and team development experience
  • familiarity with industry trends and best practices
  • ability to handle multiple tasks and resolve conflicts effectively
  • proficiency in forecasting group revenues

Job Duties

  • manage and coordinate convention services activities
  • plan and develop programs, agendas, and services according to client requirements
  • communicate all group specifications and history to operational departments
  • ensure specifications are implemented to established guidelines
  • partner with senior leadership to improve client satisfaction and operational efficiencies
  • accurately forecast group revenues
  • promote proper use of function and event spaces
  • maximize group revenue by referring services and subcontractors
  • assist with training and development initiatives for staff
  • oversee contracted group room blocks including cutoffs and attrition
  • create external communications such as contract addendums and introductory letters
  • host planning meetings, site inspections, and pre-convention meetings
  • promote client satisfaction through smooth event execution
  • communicate catering event details to departments and customers
  • manage quality processes in customer service and employee satisfaction
  • provide coaching and counseling to employees
  • direct employee development, training, and mentoring
  • manage deadlines and delegate tasks
  • motivate and maintain productive work environments
  • listen and respond to employee needs
  • manage conflict situations effectively
  • develop and manage hourly employees
  • adhere to EEO and AA policies
