The Senior Events & Production Manager role at Legends Global is a critical leadership position based at the Mayo Civic Center's venues in Rochester, Minnesota. Reporting directly to the Assistant General Manager, this exempt, salaried role combines client relations, comprehensive event management, and advanced technical production expertise to ensure flawless event execution across multiple venues. This position requires overseeing the entire event lifecycle—from initial client consultation, contract interpretation, and cost estimating, through to the event's successful delivery and post-event settlement approval—ensuring each aspect meets the highest standards of service, safety, and operational efficiency. As a senior leader, the manager is responsible for managing and developing a diverse team including technical and event personnel, working closely with local unions such as IATSE to coordinate staging, rigging, audio/visual, and lighting operations.

The role encompasses broad technical responsibilities including managing cutting-edge systems like Q-Sys, Dante Audio Networks, and ETC Paradigm controls, ensuring preventive maintenance, budgeting for equipment repairs, coordinating annual inspections and safety checks, and troubleshooting complex technical challenges in real time. The Senior Events & Production Manager acts as the Manager on Duty during events, making critical decisions to navigate challenges and maintain seamless event flow. Furthermore, the position demands exceptional organizational skills, the ability to multitask effectively in high-pressure environments, and excellent communication skills to liaise effectively with clients, vendors, staff, and other stakeholders.

Additionally, the role demands a commitment to safety and regulatory compliance, including OSHA workplace standards, and the ability to adapt work schedules to the dynamic demands of event calendars, which may include extended hours, weekends, and evenings. This role is well-suited for an individual with a bachelor’s degree in hospitality, business, sports management, production, or a related field, combined with 2-4 years of relevant production management experience. Proficiency in technical production systems, strong organizational capabilities, and leadership experience are essential to excel in this position. Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • 2-4 years of production management experience
  • Proficiency in A/V operations and rigging
  • Valid driver's license and proof of insurance for Minnesota
  • Forklift certification required or to be obtained within one year of hire
  • Ability to work flexible hours including long hours, weekends, and evenings
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to communicate effectively in high-pressure and loud environments
  • Commitment to safety and OSHA compliance
  • Availability to adapt to event scheduling demands

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in hospitality, business, sports management, production, or a related field preferred
  • 2-4 years' experience with production management in corporate meeting, entertainment organization club, theater, arena or equivalent
  • Proficiency in audio/visual operations, rigging, and other technical production systems
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and multitasking skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, event software, and venue management systems
  • Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing event requirements
  • Organization of production for a multi-venue facility
  • Excellent math skills and attention to detail
  • Experience with rigging preferred
  • Technical proficiency in stage lighting, sound, and video systems
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to manage diverse teams and client relationships
  • Professional presentation, appearance, and work ethic
  • Ability to adjust work schedule to coincide with events
  • Trade skills a plus such as electrical, rigging
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and equivalent venue management software
  • AutoCAD experience preferred along with advanced understanding of network infrastructure as it relates to Audio-Visual needs

Job Duties

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, guiding them through event planning, preparation, and execution
  • Interpret and explain contract provisions, policies, and procedures to clients
  • Prepare cost estimates, oversee billing, and ensure adherence to deadlines
  • Monitor event operations, maintain close communication with clients, and promptly address concerns
  • Organize and prioritize workload to meet stringent event schedules
  • Ensure all event details, including floor plans, room setups, and insurance requirements, are finalized
  • Provide clear, concise, and timely communication of directives to other departments to assure facility readiness and client success
  • Act as Manager on Duty during events as required
  • Directly responsible for advancing, facilitation, and executing of production for multiple venues and genres
  • Work directly with live entertainment and corporate productions and tours to advance all technical, A/V production, rigging, facility logistics, and hospitality requirements
  • Supervise booking and supervision of crew for events through local IATSE Union including stage setups, rigging, audio/visual, and lighting
  • Manage technical systems such as Q-Sys, Dante Audio Networks, and ETC Paradigm controls as needed
  • Oversee work schedules and payroll for Events and Production labor
  • Manage preventive maintenance and repairs on all A/V equipment, maintaining service records and inventories
  • Coordinate budgeting, purchasing, and scheduling of stage equipment repair, inspections, safety checks, and maintenance
  • Provide monthly forecast updates to Finance for the Events and Production department
  • Approve settlement
  • Investigate, analyze, and resolve technical problems and client concerns
  • Lead, train, and supervise technical and event management personnel including part-time staff, union labor, and external vendors
  • Provide clear and timely communication with all departments to ensure facility readiness and client satisfaction
  • Maintain effective working relationships with clients, staff, and external stakeholders
  • Approve bi-weekly payroll of hourly employees and stagehands
  • Supervise events and production managers, technical personnel, production crew and vendors performing production and technical services
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities including interviewing, hiring, training, planning, appraising, rewarding, and disciplining employees in conjunction with union and HR
  • Ensure adherence to all safety and OSHA workplace regulations relating to event production performances
