Job Description

Sanford Health, renowned as the largest rural health system in the United States, is dedicated to transforming the healthcare experience and providing access to world-class care in America’s heartland. With a mission centered on improving the health and well-being of the communities it serves, Sanford Health operates a comprehensive network of medical facilities and offers a wide range of services, including hospitals, clinics, and specialty care. The organization is known for its commitment to high-quality patient care, innovation, and community engagement. Sanford Med Ctr Fargo, located at 5225 23rd Ave S, Fargo, ND, is part of this extensive network and strives to uphold the standards and values that the Sanford Health system is known for.

Sanford Health is currently seeking dedicated custodians, housekeepers, and janitors for their Environmental Services team at Sanford Med Ctr Fargo. This role is a part-time, PRN (pro re nata) position, meaning the work is on an as-needed basis, offering flexibility in scheduling. The position entails working 8-hour day shifts, aligning well with individuals who prefer specific working hours or seek supplemental income. The hourly wage ranges from $15.50 to $23.00, reflecting the importance of the role in maintaining a clean and safe hospital environment.

The Environmental Services role is crucial in supporting the hospital’s day-to-day operations by ensuring that all areas are kept clean, safe, and comfortable following federal, state, local, and facility standards. Staff in these roles work closely with leadership to coordinate supplies, respond to service requests, assist with training, and maintain minor equipment. Additionally, the position might involve quality assurance inspections and project work that contributes to the overall effectiveness and efficiency of the department.

This role requires attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced healthcare environment. Employees may have access to sensitive areas such as medication storage and utilize various internal software applications depending on location and program availability. Continuous professional development is encouraged through mandatory attendance at trainings, ensuring staff stay abreast of new techniques and protocols relevant to their duties.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent, with prior custodial experience in healthcare being favored. Competency in using computers and familiarity with cleaning methods, materials, and chemicals will be beneficial. Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills are essential, as the role involves interaction across different hospital departments and sometimes with patients and visitors. Specific assignments, such as performing AORN terminal cleaning or working in pharmacy rooms, require yearly certifications to ensure compliance with healthcare standards.

Sanford Health offers a comprehensive benefits package for qualifying employees, including health, dental, and vision insurance, life insurance, a 401(k) plan with company match, and other work-life balance benefits. Employees also benefit from the 401(k) retirement savings plan, employee referral programs, and the newly introduced DailyPay option, offering more flexibility and financial control. The commitment to creating a supportive and inclusive workplace is evident in the attention to employee needs and the provision of clear, defined training and continual work engagement.

Applicants should be prepared for a drug screen and a pre-employment background check as part of the hiring process, reflecting Sanford's commitment to a drug-free workplace and maintaining the safety and well-being of all patients and staff.
