Serving at UCLA Health offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a mission-driven organization focused on making a positive impact on patients' lives. The Custodial Worker role is fundamental in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment conducive to healing and recovery. The role involves operating specialized cleaning equipment such as vacuum cleaners, buffers, wall and window washers, shampoo machines, and floor machines. Duties include sweeping, stripping, and waxing floors, performing high and low dusting, and utilizing approved cleaning solutions to sanitize vertical and horizontal surfaces. Knowledge of proper disinfectant usage, cleaning solutions, soaps, detergents, and floor wax storage is highly preferred. Attention to detail and adherence to hygiene protocols are essential to prevent infections and promote a healthy environment for patients and staff.
This position offers a competitive salary rate of $27.09 per hour and carries the potential for career advancement within UCLA Health. Custodial workers must be physically capable, as the job requires frequent bending, lifting (minimum 50 lbs.), stooping, squatting, twisting, and long periods of standing. Strong communication skills, the ability to work efficiently under time constraints, and a proactive attitude in following through with tasks are crucial competencies for success. Moreover, this role demands the ability to interact tactfully and diplomatically with coworkers, patients, and other hospital associates, embodying superior customer service and teamwork.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to join a respected institution that values its employees and recognizes the importance of every role in delivering exceptional healthcare. With access to comprehensive training and the support of a collaborative team, custodial workers play a key role in sustaining UCLA Health's high standards of cleanliness and safety. This is a career-oriented position for individuals dedicated to making a meaningful difference through their work environment maintenance skills.
