This full-time Senior Cook position is based at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Memphis located at 6019 Walnut Grove Road, Memphis, TN 38120. The position offers a competitive pay range of $16.00 to $17.00 per hour. The role's schedule consists of varied day shifts with open availability preferred to meet the dynamic needs of the healthcare environment. The Senior Cook role is pivotal within Morrison Healthcare's culinary team. The individual in this position is responsible for preparing nutritious, flavorful meals that comply with federal, state, local, and company food safety and quality standards. With a preference for candidates with at least two years of prior cooking experience, the Senior Cook plays both a hands-on cooking role and a supervisory role by potentially overseeing food service associates as assigned by the Food Service Director. The position requires competency in preparing a variety of entrees and menu items by following established recipes, operating and cleaning kitchen equipment, and maintaining the organization and safety of food storage areas.

Additional responsibilities include following HACCP guidelines, complying with health and sanitation regulations, assisting with production records and documentation, and supporting the cross-training of employees. The role demands meticulous attention to detail, the ability to follow food handling protocols strictly, and a cooperative attitude towards team support and departmental goals.

Job Duties

  • May oversee the cooking activities of food service associates as assigned by Food Service Director

  • performs scheduled routine cleaning
  • stores, labels and dates food items according to policy
  • helps maintain organized storage of dry goods and refrigerated and frozen products
  • follows HACCP guidelines to ensure quality and safety of food supply
  • complies with federal, state and local health and sanitation regulations and department sanitation procedures
  • assists Food Service Director in maintaining accurate daily production records and completes all required documentation, reports, and logs as assigned
  • assists in the cross training of employees
  • performs other duties as assigned
