The current opportunity is for a full-time Senior Cook position at Turkey Creek Medical Center located in Knoxville, Tennessee. This role is crucial within the healthcare foodservice team, offering a chance to make a real difference in the lives of patients and staff by preparing meals that meet strict nutritional and safety standards. The Senior Cook is responsible for preparing various entrees and menu items following established recipes that ensure meals are flavorful, nutritious, and meet federal, state, and local health regulations. The shift runs Monday through Friday from 5:00 am to 2:00 pm, with occasional weekends. The position offers a competitive pay range from $16.00 to $24.00 per hour, reflecting experience and qualifications.

This role requires culinary expertise gained preferably through at least five years of experience in a healthcare foodservice setting. The Senior Cook will oversee cooking activities of other food service associates, maintain proper food storage and labeling, adhere to HACCP guidelines, and ensure equipment is clean and operational after use. The successful candidate will also assist the Food Service Director in maintaining production records and help with employee cross-training initiatives. Job Requirements

  • Five years of previous culinary experience in a healthcare setting preferred
  • Ability to prepare nutritious and properly flavored food in accordance with regulations
  • Capability to oversee cooking activities and maintain clean equipment
  • Knowledge and compliance with HACCP and safety standards
  • Ability to maintain accurate production records and assist with employee training
  • Must be able to work full time including early mornings and occasional weekends
  • Ability to perform essential job functions satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodation

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years of culinary experience in a healthcare setting preferred

Job Duties

  • Oversee the cooking activities of food service associates as assigned by Food Service Director
  • Prepare various entrees and menu items following established recipes
  • Operate and clean equipment after each use
  • Perform scheduled routine cleaning
  • Store, label, and date food items according to policy
  • Help maintain organized storage of dry goods and refrigerated and frozen products
  • Follow HACCP guidelines to ensure quality and safety of food supply
  • Comply with federal, state and local health and sanitation regulations and department sanitation procedures
  • Assist Food Service Director in maintaining accurate daily production records and complete all required documentation, reports, and logs as assigned
  • Assist in the cross training of employees
  • Perform other duties as assigned
