The Senior Cook position at Morrison Healthcare is a full-time role based at the Mayo location at 4500 San Pablo Road, Jacksonville, FL 32256. This opportunity offers a fixed pay rate of $20.75 per hour and requires prior cooking experience. The position may involve working varying hours, including weekends and holidays, reflecting the nature of healthcare food service which demands flexibility and dedication. As a Senior Cook, you will be tasked with preparing nutritious and flavorful food items in compliance with federal, state, local, and company standards and regulations. You will assist in managing cooking activities and overseeing food service associates under the direction of the Food Service Director. Key responsibilities include preparing various entrees according to established recipes, operating and cleaning kitchen equipment, maintaining sanitary food storage and handling compliant with HACCP guidelines, and assisting with accurate production records.
In addition to food preparation duties, the Senior Cook plays an essential role in ensuring food safety and hygiene standards are rigorously met to protect patient health. You will also contribute to team training and support, helping to cross-train other employees, thus fostering a collaborative working environment focused on continuous improvement and excellence. The role is critical in helping Morrison Healthcare fulfill its mission to nurture communities through thoughtful and high-quality food service delivery in healthcare environments.

Job Requirements
- Prior cooking experience required
- Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Must comply with all health and safety regulations
- Ability to work full time schedule with variable hours
- Willingness to work weekends and holidays
- Ability to operate and clean kitchen equipment
Job Qualifications
- Prior cooking experience
- Ability to follow established recipes and food safety guidelines
- Knowledge of HACCP and sanitation procedures
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Experience in a healthcare or institutional foodservice setting preferred
Job Duties
- Oversee cooking activities of food service associates as assigned by Food Service Director
- Prepare various entrees and menu items following established recipes
- Operate and clean equipment after each use
- Perform scheduled routine cleaning
- Store, label and date food items according to policy
- Help maintain organized storage of dry goods and refrigerated and frozen products
- Follow HACCP guidelines to ensure quality and safety of food supply
- Comply with federal, state and local health and sanitation regulations and department sanitation procedures
- Assist Food Service Director in maintaining accurate daily production records and complete all required documentation
- Assist in the cross training of employees
- Perform other duties as assigned
