The health system's flagship facility, UAB Hospital, is ranked as the No. 1 hospital in Alabama by U.S. News & World Report, featuring the state's only ACS-verified Level I adult trauma center and a Magnet-designated hospital status. Alongside UAB Hospital, the network includes UAB Hospital-Callahan Eye and five UAB St. Vincent’s hospitals serving central Alabama.
At UAB Medicine, careers span a broad spectrum of healthcare settings, from internationally acclaimed academic medical centers to community hospitals and primary and specialty care clinics across the state. The organization fosters a mission-driven culture dedicated to delivering life-changing care with nearly every medical specialty represented, offering abundant opportunities for professional growth and specialization. The system's commitment extends beyond patient care to support and invest in the well-being and development of its employees through comprehensive, industry-leading benefit packages tailored to diverse individual needs.
The Food Preparation Specialist role at UAB Medicine is a critical position within the healthcare food service environment. This role involves preparing food items for patients, visitors, and staff using specialized kitchen equipment, ensuring that all food served aligns with established quality and safety standards. The position requires clear communication of recipe and production issues to supervisors, assisting in setting quality standards, establishing workflow efficiency, and training production staff to uphold operational excellence. This position offers full-time hours with shifts across AM and PM slots, including weekends, with schedule variations ranging from early mornings at 5 a.m. to evenings ending at 8:30 p.m. The pay range for this role is between $17.95 and $29.20 per hour.

It offers employment stability and access to a suite of benefits and wellness programs, including educational assistance, paid time off, employee assistance programs, paid parental leave, and eligibility for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program. The Food Preparation Specialist position is an excellent opportunity for those seeking to impact patient and visitor experience positively while growing within an esteemed health system dedicated to excellence in all aspects of care and service.
