Job Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent vocational training certificate
- minimum 3 years experience in hotel catering or banquets preferred
- fluency in English both verbal and written
- command of basic arithmetic
- knowledge of various food service styles, menu development and content
- knowledge of room set-up styles and room capacities
- familiarity with food and beverage cost controls
- certification of previous training in liquor, wine, and food service and alcohol awareness program
- ability to work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team with minimal supervision
- capability to exert physical effort in transporting items up to 50 pounds
- ability to perform physical movements including standing or walking up to 2 hours
- ability to communicate satisfactorily with guests, management, and co-workers

Job Duties
- Plan, conduct site inspections, sell, up-sell, and detail programs
- responsible for booking and detailing events and achieving revenue goals
- develop and implement strategies to drive catering revenues through direct sales
- aggressively prospect for new business including weddings, galas, kosher events, luncheons
- collect data and prepare strategic plans to achieve annual revenue targets
- conduct monthly forecasting, banquet menu pricing, and set revenue minimums
- set elevated standards for the catering team by securing quality business
- remain calm under pressure and excel in problem-solving and people management
- actively participate in daily business review and sales meetings
- attend weekly catering meetings to review bookings and departmental operations
- monitor changes to Banquet Event Orders and ensure timely communication to departments
- ensure all functions are accurately detailed on BEOs and signed by clients
- check function room setups before guest arrival to ensure compliance with requirements and standards
- double check proper staffing for functions
- supervise the service of functions ensuring guest satisfaction
- organize and lead pre/post-convention meetings and solicit event rebookings
- assist finance in resolving billing and payment discrepancies
