The Department of Parks, Recreation & Forestry plays a crucial role in this mission by organizing diverse recreational activities and community events that promote active lifestyles and social connectivity. Recognized for its supportive and inclusive environment, the City of Waukesha encourages professional growth, community involvement, and teamwork among its staff and volunteers.

This position is focused on organizing, coordinating, and implementing community activities specifically tailored for adults aged 55 and older. The role is seasonal and classified as part-time, offering a flexible schedule of approximately 15 hours per week. Typically, the working hours are from 10:30 AM to 3:30 PM on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, providing an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking work-life balance or supplemental income. The hourly wage ranges from $20.00 to $24.00, reflecting the skill and experience required to successfully manage these specialized programs.

In this capacity, the successful candidate will work under the general supervision of the Recreation Supervisor responsible for Aquatics, Fitness & Community Engagement, contributing to a team that values safety, high-quality programming, and community satisfaction. The role involves supervising staff, volunteers, and contractual entertainment to ensure smooth execution of community activities. There is an emphasis on ensuring safety standards and operational procedures are strictly followed during programs, events, and trips.

The position requires significant interaction with the community, offering assistance to adults in accessing social services, responding to public inquiries, and representing the city's commitment to service excellence. Responsibilities also include logistical coordination such as site inspections, event setup and takedown, vendor negotiation for equipment and supplies, and ensuring preparedness for each event. Utilizing effective communication and leadership skills, the role also encompasses recruiting, scheduling, training, and evaluating staff and volunteers.

Additionally, creating and distributing promotional materials such as brochures and newsletters forms a vital component of this position, aiming to keep the community informed and engaged with the available programs tailored for seniors. The job also requires regular reporting, including the submission of staff and volunteer hours and completing grant documentation to support program funding.

Physical demands of the job include the ability to work both indoors and outdoors, sometimes in adverse weather conditions.
