This job opportunity is for a full-time Food Service Cleaner position within the Department of Cash Operations/Auxiliary Operations at the University. The role is based at 475 Alumni Rd, Rochester, New York. It is a regular full-time position with a scheduled 40-hour workweek during the day shift. Compensation for this role ranges from $18.38 to $24.94 per hour, based on step pay rates outlined in the applicable collective bargaining agreement, with individual pay determined accordingly.

In this vital role, the Food Service Cleaner plays a key part in maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of the university's food service areas. Reporting directly to an area supervisor, this position focuses on cleaning equipment, utensils, pots and pans, work areas, floors, and walls, as well as handling supplies within the food service department. The role requires proficiency in operating cleaning machines such as dishwashers and pot and pan washers, as well as using various cleaning supplies and materials handling equipment.

The Food Service Cleaner is responsible for picking up used dishes from counter areas and tables, ensuring they are properly scraped and pre-rinsed before washing by hand or machine. The position also includes general helper duties, such as replenishing milk supplies, transporting supplies and equipment, unpacking stock, and occasionally assisting with food service counter tasks. Maintaining prescribed sanitation standards throughout the work area is paramount, with duties that involve cleaning kitchen machines, washing floors and walls, waxing floors, and cleaning windows as needed.

Physical stamina is essential, as the role involves standing and walking short distances for most of the working day, reaching, lifting, carrying various materials, and performing both light and heavy cleaning tasks.
