The Sous Chef position at 801 Chophouse St. Louis is a full-time, leadership role critical to the successful operation of the kitchen. This role requires a highly skilled and motivated culinary professional who can assist in managing the kitchen’s day-to-day operations while ensuring that each dish meets the restaurant’s exacting standards. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in high-volume, upscale dining environments and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively lead the back-of-house (BOH) team. The Sous Chef is responsible for maintaining the highest standards of food safety, quality, and presentation while fostering a positive and organized kitchen atmosphere. This position demands creativity in developing new dishes and menu items, mastery of all kitchen stations, and proficiency in financial management tools such as R365 accounting and inventory systems. The Sous Chef must function well under pressure, displaying calm professionalism and solid judgment during busy service periods. Job Requirements

  • minimum of 2 years prior experience as sous chef in full-service, high volume, high-end dining establishment
  • at least 5 years working in upscale or fine dining kitchen
  • ability to work all stations on the line
  • ability to think creatively in developing new dishes and menu items
  • proficiency in R365 accounting and financial system including inventory and invoice management
  • ability to remain calm and use good judgment under pressure
  • ability to manage kitchen service effectively in fast-paced, high-stress environment
  • physical ability to handle knives, operate kitchen equipment, and work with high heat and open flame
  • ability to follow recipe and presentation guidelines while maintaining food safety and sanitation standards
  • coordinate food orders for timely delivery
  • meet special guest requests maintaining high-quality standards
  • communicate effectively in a loud environment
  • availability 7 days per week including nights, weekends, and some holidays
  • regular, predictable and reliable attendance
  • physical ability to work on feet for extended periods
  • continuous use of hands and arms
  • frequent bending, reaching and twisting
  • ability to lift up to 50 lbs frequently
  • ability to squat, kneel, and climb

Job Qualifications
