Job Requirements
- Valid driver’s license
- eligible for company auto insurance coverage
- minimum three years of law enforcement or military experience
- successful completion of Banner Health’s Tactical Officer certification training upon hire
- ability to demonstrate required competencies annually
- physical ability to pass Cooper Institute Physical Fitness Assessment Test including 1.5 mile run, push-ups, sit-ups, vertical jump, and 300 meter run
- possession of Fingerprint Clearance Card
- willingness to work varied 12-hour shifts including night shifts
- excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- ability to respond calmly in emergency situations
- must maintain physical fitness bi-annually
- availability for upcoming physical assessment test
- meet minimum qualifications with no exceptions
Job Qualifications
- Minimum three years of experience as a law enforcement officer or military service
- successful completion of Banner Health’s Tactical Officer certification training upon hire
- interpersonal skills and customer service orientation
- advanced critical thinking and monitoring skills
- ability to quickly assess situations and determine appropriate response in escalated conflict, security and emergency situations
- ability to perform physical requirements of the position
- possession of a Fingerprint Clearance Card
- valid driver’s license with eligibility for company auto insurance coverage
Job Duties
- Apprehends suspects in cases of conflict, escalation or unauthorized entry into buildings and work areas, malicious mischief, or other violations
- conducts investigations and prepares investigative reports
- serves as the primary point of contact with law enforcement during critical incidents
- monitors and assesses situations and determines appropriate response
- utilizes critical thinking skills in emergency and stressful situations
- patrols facility buildings and grounds watching for unauthorized persons, fires and unusual occurrences
- reports emergencies immediately upon discovery
- utilizes verbal de-escalation techniques and advanced workplace violence mitigation skills and tactical skills in security, emergency and conflict situations
- investigates and completes written reports of complaints, critical security incidents and unusual activities involving patients, employees and visitors
- submits all reports to security leadership by the end of the shift in which the report occurs
- maintains an accurate log of all relevant security activities during each shift
- escorts patients, visitors and employees as needed
- assists medical staff in restraining and handling disturbed patients
- enforces security rules and regulations to patrol grounds by foot or in a vehicle
- reacts quickly and calmly in emergency situations
- communicates effectively
- prepares concise incident reports
- follows instructions and safe work practices
- acts as point of contact for other officers as needed
- reports directly to the Security Director
- interacts internally with staff, physicians, visitors, volunteers and patients
- interacts externally with law enforcement and emergency service agencies
- may be assigned to work at any facility within the system as needed
