The role of Second Cook at Legends Global is a pivotal position within the Foodservice Department, reporting directly to the Sous Chef. This on-call, non-exempt position requires a dynamic individual capable of supporting the daily coordination and execution of food service operations in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. The Second Cook assists in training kitchen staff on food production procedures and quality standards, ensuring compliance with all food safety regulations. Key responsibilities include assisting in food preparation, production, plating, and cleaning duties; managing food and supply deliveries by stocking and storing items correctly; executing opening and closing kitchen tasks; and maintaining organized, sanitized workstations.
Additional responsibilities involve managing event food products and supplies, monitoring inventory levels, conducting regular inventories, and maintaining kitchen equipment and storage areas in safe, sanitary conditions. The Second Cook must be well-versed in various food production techniques such as frying, grilling, baking, and sautéing while adhering strictly to local, state, and federal health codes. The candidate is expected to respond efficiently to food and beverage inquiries and perform all duties with a positive attitude, professionalism, and responsiveness.
The position demands flexibility, as it includes irregular schedules encompassing evenings, weekends, holidays, and potential short-notice shift changes. Adhering to company policies—including dress code standards, OSHA, and health department regulations—is essential, as is promoting a harassment-free, respectful workplace environment.
